I am compassionate, laid-back, and quirky.

My Self-Summary

I have a lot of interests - like old movies, reading, art, music, children, swimming, movies, politics, and relationships. A lot of things will catch my attention, and by now I have a pretty good grasp of what I'm into and what is just NOT my thing. I guess you could say that means I have a strong personality - but that's just part of me. I LOVE cracking jokes (I tend to be the comic relief in my classes), giving advice, and just chilling out. I'd rather watch tv and chat with friends than go out to a bar. Really, my favorite dates have been just relaxing on the couch with a movie and a pizza.

I give my whole heart to everything I do. I am working towards my goal to be a teacher, but that doesn't mean I can't make time for the other important things in life, like family, friends, and a relationship.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I'm substitute teaching. I had my own classroom last year, but it was a bad fit for a lot of reasons, so I decided not to stay stuck in a job that wasn't right for me, and so I am waiting to find something that fits more with my dream, because don't we all want to chase the dream? I'm loving subbing, though, I must say! I'm also working on my masters, I have 3 classes left to take and I'm really excited to get that done, I'm hoping this summer.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at listening (I used to be a counselor), making people laugh, giving advice, cheering people on, reading, singing, remembering movie lines, artistic stuff, snuggling, interacting with kids, writing, remembering stupid little details, celebrating my friends, standing up for myself, using my DVR to its fullest, and debating something I'm passionate about.

The first things people usually notice about me

I get a lot of compliments on my smile, but I think there is something about me that just makes people feel comfortable. I am such a stranger-magnet, I have no idea why! I go in stores and have strangers talk to me all the time, even when I don't make eye contact. It's nice sometimes, because I really have learned a lot about people and sometimes get to help them, but there are days when I just don't feel like knowing every detail about the birthday party you're having for your cat (I wish I was making that one up!).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - I love Maeve Binchy (she's an Irish author), yes I'm a Harry Potter reader, but mostly I read "chick lit" - which is a label I hate because it makes it seem like fluff. I like books about women my age who are just trying to figure things out. I love especially by Jennifer Weiner, Sophie Kinsella, and Meg Cabot. I am a re-reader, so I keep all my books - and yes, storage is becoming an issue!

Movies ... oh boy! I am a big movie buff - but with prices what they are, I mostly wait for things to get on DVD and get them thru netflix. I love old movies (Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day, Katherine Hepburn, Rock Hudson) and comedies, romances, and some action movies. I'm big into Star Wars, but not really a sci-fi person.

Music - I have very eclectic tastes! You wouldn't believe what comes out of my ipod when I shuffle my songs- from musicals to 80s hairbands to alternative to (a few) oldies. I'm in love with anything with great LYRICS.

And food? Let's just say I'm a picky eater and leave it at that. It's one of my "quirks" ;)

The six things I could never do without

1) my stuffed pig, Oink
2) my adorable dog, Casey (he lives with my parents)
3) laughter
4) books
5) fall weather
6) diet coke/coke zero

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything. There are times I wish my brain had an OFF button!

On a typical Friday night I am

home - watching a movie or tv, and probably IMing. I am trying to save money, so most nights are in, but I a homebody, too. I would prefer to be at home with someone, however ...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Ha! You're not gonna get me THAT easily!

You should message me if

You have a sense of humor, you're willing to take a little time to talk before we meet (and willing to meet in public!), you don't require your women to be stick figures, you're not a big partier, you're not a smoker or drug taker, don't mind spending time just hanging out, and think we'd have some things in common!
