My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I think of myself as being a little unusual and I try to keep company with people who deviate from the norm. After all, isn't it your strangest qualities that make you unique?

I'm one of the most caring, honest and loyal people you will ever meet. I grow strong friendships and leave the others behind. Karma is in the company we keep.

I'm most in my element when I'm in a quiet gathering of people discussing almost any topic under the sun, from philosophy to movies, pop culture or just idle gossip. My friends and I will often watch bad movies together until late at night, offering increasingly inane commentary as we get more tired/drunk (Netflix is a treasure trove of such movies, some of which are even too awful to make fun of).

I'm pretty excited about life. There's a lot out there to experience, and it's always better with company! Well, depending on the company.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I make money as a software contractor writing web applications for hire, but my passions are where it's at.

I ran the Rock and Roll Marathon last October and it was a crazy awesome experience. Nothing like seeing 26.2 miles of your hometown while accomplishing something incredible.

I play in a Death Metal band. We have been working hard for years trying to create something interesting and original. Haha, but it's still just Death Metal.

I'm trying to finish a M.S. in Computer Science. The coursework was easy. The research has not been. My thesis may need to be titled "Here are several terrible approaches to solving this problem."
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Conversation, witty reparté, calming people the fuck down, writing, writing software, playing guitar, running, enjoying myself no matter where I am or what's going on.

My friends and family often come to me for advice or support. I like to think it's because I'm always honest and caring.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hopefully not just my pretty face =)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Metal overload. Seriously, I love a LOT of music, but I'm almost always listening to some sort of metal band. I'll drop some names: Tool, Meshuggah, Nine Inch Nails, The Haunted, Dethklok, Veil of Maya, The Dillinger Escape Plan.

I also love musical theater, which is quite the contrast. I spent a weekend in New York once just crawling Broadway. I saw Next to Normal, Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and the Addams Family all in 2 and a half days.

Horror or anything that's dark, witty, and/or imaginative. Some more recent examples: Primer, Sinister, Scott Pilgrim, Moonrise Kingdom, The Innkeepers.

Love Joss Whedon stuff (Firefly especially), Game of Thrones, John Oliver and American Dad!

I'm a true omnivore when it comes to food. There's nothing I won't eat, and very little I won't enjoy. I'm too lazy to cook most of the time, though. Lately I've been really digging tacos and quality hamburgers.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Metal music.
A guitar.
Friends to play metal music with.
My laptop.
An abundance of words to aid me in my circumlocution.
The crazy people that keep life interesting.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I can answer this question. Yep, been thinking way too much about interesting answers to OKCupid questions lately.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Carving a path through the urban jungle, or recovering from 3 nights in a row of said activity. I don't wait for the weekends to have fun, nor do I wait for the weekdays to be productive. I work hard when I have to and when I don't, I'm down for anything.

Recent Fridays have mostly involved me hanging out at a neighborhood haunt making new friends over beers, followed by watching old movies on hulu with old friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've written apocalyptic fiction and I think it's better than anyone else's.

There's a good chance I will date you for your dog (or horse).
