I'm an extroverted introvert. I enjoy talking and writing with people, and asking and answering questions. I'm into movies, art, theatre, wine, animals, nature, and travel. I've met the love of my life (and she knows I have a profile here), but am trying to expand my circle of friends in the local area. I like outdoorsy stuff and going out dancing, which probably doesn't happen often enough.

Things that make me happy: wine and cheese picnics (although I'm not snobby about my wine or my cheese, unless its Boons Farm and Velveeta), enjoying a good cup of coffee or a cocktail while people-watching, seeing a new art exhibit, dancing the night away to a good beat, walking the C&O canal, flat-water kayaking on the Potomac, making s'mores over a campfire, staying in a posh hotel, reading a book in a hammock or at the beach, enjoying a delicious meal in good company, etc.

I believe life is too short not to play hooky.

I work as a database developer in the field of Education. I didn't intend on doing this, but that's where I find myself now. At least the benefits are good.

Coming up with witty/sarcastic remarks and making people laugh. I like to think I'm a good writer and photographer.

a) Books: Augusten Burroughs (Running With Scissors, Dry), Sarah Waters (Tipping the Velvet, Night Watch), John Irving (The World According to Garp, Fourth Hand), Harry Potter, Philippa Gregory (The Other Boleyn Girl, Constant Princess). I'm mostly into historical fiction and memoirs.

b) Movies: American Beauty, Shawshank Redemption, Love Actually, Forrest Gump, Saved, Quills, Office Space. I like drama, romantic comedies, historical films. I also watch series on HBO and Showtime (Deadwood, Rome, Boardwalk Empire, Nurse Jackie, True Blood) and Top Chef-type shows.

c) Music: Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Lykke Li, Lily Allen, Deerhunter, Yacht, Goldfrapp, New Pornographers, Ting Tings, Small Sins, Adele, Rilo Kiley, Gorillaz, Coldplay, Thievery Corporation, Kaisar Chiefs, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, kd lang, dance/electronic, show tunes. Mostly indie rock, but a little bit of everything.

d) Foods: Italian, Thai, Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean, American. Steak and potatoes!
