My Self-Summary
I'm madly in love with Portland, Oregon, but right now I'm
traveling a bit, reconnecting with family and friends and places I
used to call home. I'll be in Fort Wayne for a month or two... then
on to New England, and hopefully after that, the UK! I'm mostly
keeping my account active to be a friend's virtual wingman, but I
wouldn't mind making some new friends along the way.
I've wanted to try Arimaa for a long time. I'm going to start
taking a chess set to the coffee shop and try to get people to play
with me.
What I’m doing with my life
Slowly working on a degree, hindered by the fact that I still don't
know what I want to be when I grow up. Figuring out what I want
from my life and my relationships. Tinkering. Dreaming. But mostly,
just trying to be happy.
I’m really good at
Pretty much everything I put my mind to. Too bad my attention
span's so short.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I grew up reading classic science fiction, but my imagination has
moved on. I like stories that make the world seem wonderful and
mysterious like it did when I was young. Recommendations are always
welcome.
I like action movies that have some kind of plot. I don't watch
many films, though. Terminator II is a long-time favorite; I think
it's a touching love story. The last time I went to a theater was
to see Star Trek, and before that... I think it was Children of Men
back in 2006. Lately I've been watching all the 80s cultural
landmarks I never saw as a kid.
I'm bored with most of my music. Recent discoveries that are still
tolerable include Rocky Votolato and Blitzen Trapper (although the
latter's songs are pretty hit or miss.) I often return to the
timeless solace of guitar instrumentals, Iron & Wine, Bob
Dylan, and The Beatles.
I'm an unrepentant carnivore. My favorite cuisines are Thai,
Korean, and Indian. I also love sushi. But I'm usually too lazy too
prepare real food if it's just for myself, so I mostly subsist on
ramen, frozen pizza, and cheeseburgers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sex. I don't just mean in the usual insatiably horny, obsessed kind
of way. I analyze the hell out of my kinks, and I love talking
about them.
Politics. I spend way too much time keeping up with all the
right-wing moonbat gibberish I'm going to have to smack down at my
next family get-together.
Economics. I have some unconventional theories, a few of which I
was surprised to find support for when I started studying economics
academically. Now I'm just baffled about why, if the stuff's right
there in the textbooks, people still don't get it.
Philosophy. Ask me where right and wrong come from if there's no
such thing as god.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting in a coffee shop, listening to folk music. Or on the
Internet.
You should message me if
You're as bored as I am in this shithole town.
