I am in the process of writing a memoir about some experiences from my youth, and I have no problem talking about myself, but, for some reason, the thought of writing a "self-summary" is very daunting. Well, here goes:
I teach high school English, so you would think that I'm a book snob, but I love T.V. and movies. If Shakespeare or Dickens were alive today, they'd be writing for TV or the movies. Sacrilege? Sorry. It's true.
I live on the Upper West Side but I love bopping around to all corners of Manhattan.
I am the only New Yorker who doesn't have food delivered to the apt. I tend to cook for myself or go out.
I have never used "I" more than in the previous ten sentences.

Trying really hard to balance work, fun, and relaxation. Lately, work has been losing.

Making pizza; grammar and punctuation; conversation (talking and listening); eating the two-boned chicken wings while everyone else is grabbing for the mini-drumsticks; dog whispering; reading people.

I'm not really sure about this one. Ladies on OKC seem to notice my smile. I would have guessed it to be my perfectly symmetrical shaved head.

Books: too many to list. I'm a big Cormac McCarthy fan. I've read most John Irving novels. I've read most of the classics, but I prefer contemporary literature.
Movies: Brave Heart, The Princess Bride, Groundhog Day, Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou, Fight Club; The Matrix (Keanu is only good when he is given minimal dialogue and maximum bullet-dodging), A River Runs Through It, etc.
TV: HBO shows - The Wire, Sopranos, Rome, Boardwalk Empire, etc. Just caught up on Homeland - pretty good
Thursday night NBC, South Park (brilliant satire!)
Food: pretty much everything. I love a good steak or burger, sushi, pizza

I hate to admit the connection I have made with my iphone but I'd be lying if I kept it off this list.

I really enjoy answering (and reading responses to) OKC "questions" - some of them are hilarious! And I think they reveal a lot more about a prospective match than anything on this "about" page.
