My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
(As you see, I have now had success with the photo thing....but it's one I cropped more than it appears - I am slightly mortified, I am a lady not a trollop, honest. :S !).
Well, no good at selling myself, but here goes.....
I have described myself before now as somewhat paradoxical....I am a knitter with a nosering, have been moved to tears by both Morrissey and Puccini, love horror films but also Dirty Dancing, enjoy a good laugh and a good cry. I don't think I fit a mould and like to be different. I enjoy the alternatives, in music, cinema and people :).
I'm definitely a glass-half-full girl, tend to be happy, smiling and laughing. I act much younger than my years but can be a responsible adult too (only when I absolutely have to, mind!).
I'm not much good at being a girly in the respect that I won't spend an age perfecting makeup or straightening my hair - life is too short! - but I am very feminine, and have always had long hair, love wearing dresses and have a magpie nature when it comes to jewellery :).
I must be honest and say that I am definitely unskinny, but I like to make the best of what I have....and people are happy enough to be seen in public with me,lol.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My working day is spent educating the very young....sometimes warpng their susceptible young minds. I like to keep them on their little toes, they are used to my madness :).
In my spare time, I like to get creative - I knit and make stuff to sell on occasional craft stalls (think funky rather than Women's Institute!). Live music is a big thing; the next gig is often what gets me through a tough day :). Cinema is another fave; horror, French, arthouse, pretty much anything non-Hollywood, really!.
I love to learn new things (but I would say that, being a teacher), and enjoy a good cerebral workout now and again.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking, listening, making stuff, eating, baking (my Welshcakes are the stuff of legend!). And hopefully, teaching others!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair, my smile and my bosom, lol!
That makes me sound quite vacuous, I have realised....I'd like to think people sense my warmth and personable nature....who knows?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Not sure there is much point in even starting this, there's so much!
Classic literature - Dickens, Shakespeare, - otherwise anything recommended by friends or which catches my eye while browsing at a bookshop. I always have a book on the go, but am not a speedy reader...I like to absorb it all :).
See above for my cinematic preferences, but I also adore the classic musicals, Ealing comedies, Marx Brothers, Tarantino, John Hughes, Fred Astaire, the Coens. The Crow, West Side Story, Delicatessen, Let the Right One In, Guys and Dolls, Theatre of Blood, Very Annie Mary, The Lost Boys.... this could be a very long list.
I undoubtedly watch too much television, but I do love a documentary. Other favourites include Shameless, The Apprentice, Being Human, Dr. Who, Gavin and Stacey (naturally - oh, the childhood days spent at Barry Island!), guilty pleasures - Glee....and I'm a lifelong Corrie fan!
Music could go on for ever, but mainly indie and rock - Smiths and Moz, Stone Roses, Bluetones, Charlatans, Paul Weller, Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Black Crowes. Classic jazz - Tony Bennett, Frank, Ella. Classical too, opera makes me cry, and I love a Russian composer :).
I will eat any cuisine, from French finesse to Green Street curry. I love fish and seafood, especially squid :).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
What, apart from food, water and oxygen? Let's just say my life would be miserable without....
Music, cats, regular returns to Wales, cinema, friends and family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How lucky I am compared to many others; how nice it must be to be the sort of girl who has her pick of men without needing to induce finger-ache selling herself on a website :)!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Wherever takes my a gig, the cinema, vegging on the sofa with my cat on my lap. Mmmm!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I just cleaned my bathroom listening to a soft rock compilation cd! Belting along with Patti Smith as I work the Toilet Duck :).
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like a girl with a sense of fun, uncomplicated.....and lots to get hold of!
(Further to my revision of the vacuous, I should perhaps add that I can actually hold a decent conversation and discuss serious matters of the day :) ).
Another addendum - if you visit me and leave no message, I shall just assume you saw/read nothing to interest you. So don't be shy!
Addendum 2 - it has come to my attention that some have assumed the same applies if I visit your profile and leave no message - not so. So go ahead, what are you waiting for....?
And a third... for some reason, I no longer get notified if you have 'rated' me - so should you be kind enough to do so and rightly expect me to acknowledge it, I'm not being rude, I'm simply unaware of it! So again, be brave and message....:)
