My self-summary
I'm basically just a harmless nerd looking for a bit of a gamer girl.

I'm not into the stereotypical guy stuff like cars and sports. Instead I much prefer curling up in front of a good (and often-times not so good) chick-flick.

I'm gentle and laid back. I have my smart moments, but also silly ones (it's possible that the silly ones outnumber the smart ones). I'm creative and I'd probably be quite snuggly if I had the chance.

I grew up in various towns and villages and I guess something kinda stuck there. I get somewhat uncomfortable in cities. So many people in such a small space just freaks me out a little.

After university I ended up moving to Germany where I lived and worked for 10 years. A few years ago I moved back to the UK to be closer to my friends and indulge more in my hobbies.

I got out of the habit of watching TV when I was out of the country and so I've pretty much completely unsubscribed from pop culture. I have no idea who the latest teen idols are. No clue who is sleeping with whom and will have never heard whatever song Radio 1 will have played 20 times in the last hour. I only recently reconnected my TV to the wall (rather than just the DVD player/console) but even now, I'll only watch recordings of films and shows I've specifically picked. This is because the adverts infuriate me and forwarding through them is the only way to retain sanity.
What I’m doing with my life
Working, Eating, Sleeping, Hanging out with friends, Playing games (computer/board). LARPing.

Recently I've been collecting small bits of wood from the local forest and trying to carve them into interesting shapes. Mostly though I've just been creating smaller (and smaller and smaller...) bits of wood as well as increasing piles of wood shavings which get everywhere. Occasionally I mix things up by accidentally stabbing myself in the hand.
I’m really good at
Apparently I'm good at drawing. I say apparently because I post things on Deviant Art and there are some painfully talented people on there who make my stuff look like it was drawn with crayons and a blindfold. Either way, I like drawing and one of my favourite geek accessories is a Wacom pen tablet. (You get points if you know what what is. You get bonus point if the idea gave you a little nerdgasm.)
The first things people usually notice about me
I have an 'enthusiastic' laugh which people have pointed out a few times.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like (amongst other things) Pixar movies and rom-coms. Blade Runner and The Fifth Element, Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett, Coldplay and Counting Crows. Professor Layton and LittleBigPlanet. Big Bang Theory, Chuck and Gilmore Girls. Call of Cthulhu (the HP Lovecraft stories and the RPG). I like puzzles and games. I like little craft projects and occasionally snowboarding. (I have my own board but it's not in the best condition and I've not been on it for a few years.) In my Radio 4 moments I like listening to Just a Minute, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and The News Quiz.
The six things I could never do without
Puzzles, Games, Friends, Internets, Hugs, Other things...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Who the hell thought up internet dating anyway!? It seems to be custom-made for masochists. As a guy, the only way to get any replies seems to be to click on practically everyone who ever appears on the screen and spam them. These messages will then invariably be ignored by girls who are sick of being spammed by every sad male user on the site. I can't see the appeal, unless you somehow get off on being rejected a thousand times a day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either playing card/board games round at my friends place or vegging out. If I've recently picked up some TV box set then I'll be watching that until my eyes bleed, otherwise I'll be trying to catch up with whatever I've told the cable box to record... Or just playing a game. (Wow... I'm even boring myself!)

It's been a long time since I've done the whole pub/club thing. I like pubs if they are the quiet country ones with comfy old sofas and chairs that will swallow you whole given half a chance. The only time I enjoy clubs are when you go with a large group of people who are happy to dance and play about. If I'm there with people who are trying to pull or it's full to the point where you are constantly getting elbowed by people trying to make space (in order to dance closer to someone they are trying to pull) then I'm pretty much guaranteed to be hating every single minute.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I'm talking to someone who I think is genuinely interested then I'll pretty much admit to anything. Not that I have very much to admit to, but on the whole, if someone is asking a question that they are hoping will be embarrassing, the easiest (and generally, most entertaining) way to get out of the situation is just to answer openly and watch their reaction.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 30–45
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If the phrase "Look behind you, a three-headed monkey!" means anything to you.
If the idea of curling up on the sofa and watching back-to-back episodes of things like Sex and the City, Gilmore Girls or Ally McBeal sounds appealing. (Not always, but sometimes. :) )
If you don't consider it utterly crazy to go camping with a bunch of other people, wearing costumes and running around with fake foam swords. (OK... Maybe it IS crazy, that doesn't mean it can't be fun!)
If you like what you read in this profile. (If I see that you visited my page but didn't message me I will assume you didn't like what you saw. I'm basing this on the number of people who just ignore the messages I send, even if they have visited.)
Oh, and most importantly, message me if you can actually communicate without using text-speak (unless you are specifically referencing something such as lolcats).
