My self-summary
I could be described as a cultural hybrid of punk rocker and mover shaker. I have rough edges and am fighting the good fight. I am not conventional, nor is my life. DIY is my way of getting things done, and that way of life keeps me more connected with other people.

I am calm and collected most of the time, but I am not laid back or carefree.

I question the social practices we do out of hegemony. I am looking for individuals who challenge and are challenging.
What I’m doing with my life
Once upon a time, I was going to be an engineer, then I was going to do "something" with art, then was going to be a school art teacher. Now my work life is devoted to 2 non-profit organizations where I teach, manage, and administrate programs involving bicycles, computers, orchestral music, punk music, and DIY ethics and community.

I work with young people to join them on the journey to their own self-discovery, as well as mine, while finding the time to write music for guitar, to start painting again, and learn the carpentry techniques to build any furniture I need. I'm working on a stereo rack.

I ride bikes to get where I have to go if I haven't procrastinated too much, or if I don't have to transport a bulk of supplies to the other side of town.

I make my own peanut butter and cashew butter.
I’m really good at
my strengths are mediation, patience, and using my hands. I'm good at what I dedicate my mind to.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Pedagogy of the Oppressed, The Road Less Traveled, Goya: The Origins of the Modern Temper in Art, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I am most interested in non-fiction work on subjects that are important to my life: sociology, social change, education, art, music, places around the world.

Office Space, Being John Malkovich, Stranger Than Fiction, Instrument, Dither: the DIY Sound, Idiocracy

Chavez, Fugazi, Janis Ian, Guided By Voices, Igor Stravinsky, Patife Band, REM, The Clash, Neil Young, PJ Harvey, Shellack, Claude Debussy, Will Oldham, The Call, Bellafea, Anodes, Laika, Stonechat

I think television is partly responsible for the degradation of family closeness, healthy socializing, and self-motivation, so I only watch shows on the internet when I panic.

Orange peppers, bananas, Caesar salad dressing. Tacos. I make a lot of soups and stews with lots of beans, rice, and produce from Soulard Farmers Market.
The six things I could never do without
Opportunities to teach, adventure, and create. To do these activities with other people.

Luckily I create those opportunities for myself. You can too.

Alternate list:
a guitar
a foresty escape
a bicycle
a few tools
an organizer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How can I make that? What will my relationship be with the rest of the world in 5 years? What color is that? How can I be better at solving dilemas? ICE CREAM!

I am concerned about the effect we have on the world and each other by making things we don't need and putting them somewhere instead of to some other use:
On a typical Friday night I am
breathing. making art. hanging out with my best friend. at a show.

I'd be here every night if I could (actually, I kind of am):
