My self-summary
I like writing in the first person, especially when its some awful love child of a resume, college application essay, and sexual rohschach all rolled into one. I love self promotion, especially when it comes to trying to market myself to attractive and interesting women. I love distilling my entire being into one well written, witty, intelligent, and thoughtful webisode designed to communicate to like minded people my potential as a future partner.
What I’m doing with my life
I make my living as a carpenter. I never thought I would end up in the trades after a liberal arts education but I love making things with my hands. I also love the flexibility of working for myself. It affords me a lot of time to do the stuff that really gives me joy, usually these things involve motion. I love water of all kinds: swimming in it, skating on top of it, bodysurfing through it, and sailing and kayaking on it. I try get to the beach for a week every summer. Recently I've had some huge luck and have landed myself on a sailboat for a week at a time. I also love biking in and around Philly and I hope to get a touring bike this summer to do some longer distance trips.
I have a dog and two cats whom I love like kids. I try to get the dog out and into the woods as often as I can. She is a frisbee beast and loves the water more than I do.
I have been in and out of bands for years and I love playing music with friends and like minded people. I also love to dance and will shake my ass for many hours to anything with a beat.
I also love camping and hiking, campfires, chopping wood, smores, bugs, bears, tents.
I am also fully renovating my house in south philly from the ground up. Its a monster but it doesn't quite feel like work when its your own house.
I’m really good at
Making soups. I can grill any beast who walked or any veggie that photosynthesized, or any fungus that...mouldered? I know where to find delicious mushrooms in the fall and wild onions in the spring. I can also pickle said delicacies for wintertime enjoyment.
I can walk for long periods, I hiked the length of the Appalachian trail in 2001.
I can build things like houses and furniture. I really like to sing and play guitar and bass and I take requests. If I know the song and there's internet access, I'm a walking talking jukebox.
I am usually the best person at ping pong in any given party.
I'm good with kids and animals.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a loud and raucous laugh that usually makes people either laugh themselves or yell, "shut the hell up down there, some people got work in the morning!"
At the moment I have a big wintertime beard that causes strangers on the street to ask me if I can split them a cord of wood.

The six things I could never do without
Pho, coffee, the outdoors, my pets, playing music and singing, naps, reading, projects, big plans
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to finish off my house: what kind of tile in the kitchen, wainscoting or a chair rail, how big do bathrooms need to be to not feel cramped, where to position the woodburning stove, sauna in basement or first floor, light or dark kitchen cabinets, oak or pine stairs, etc.
Next big trip, hiking or biking?
Vietnamese or Mexican?
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, riding bikes around town.
Cooking dinner.
Walking my dog around town.
Playing music.
Reading the New Yorker.
At a party or a bar, shaking it like i'm trying to break it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I pass out when I get my blood drawn.
I like to take disco naps at parties to rejuvenate and hang tough into the wee hours. I can sleep anywhere under most any circumstances.
My favorite smell is tomato plants, not the tomato itself, but the stalk and leaves. Its the smell of childhood to me and if they ever make a perfume or cologne like that I will buy it and slather it all over myself like a dog rolling in filth.

You like to cook, play music, walk dogs, hike in the woods, enjoy water in all varieties and ways, make things with your hands, ride bicycles, sail, forage, dance, talk politics, watch documentaries, look at art, fix houses, eat at ethnic restaurants, or generally run amok.
