Bits and pieces that make up a whole...
I grew up near the cornfields of Illinois but always knew I would move to New York City. I love the fact that I made it happen but have still retained a deep Midwestern soul.
When I think of how I want to be described at the end of my life, the word I land on is kind.
Once upon a time, I had purple hair and a rat's tail. Those days are long gone but when I see kids like that on the street, I smile knowingly and am glad that on the inside, I'm still one of them.
Friends will tell you I'm funny and lively but I never need (or really want) to be the center of attention. The older I get, the more I see that sometimes, it's the quieter people who say the most.
I don't have a 5 or 10 year plan for my life other than to see and do as much as possible. I want to be totally and completely in this world.
Things I love...
listening to a favorite song on repeat until it's deep in my bones, the day when you first realize spring is in the air, sunshine on my cat's fur, a high mountain lake, seeing the different colors of the Empire State Building, old cemeteries, quilts, stemless wine glasses, winding roads on cloudy fall days, my best friend's voice, freshly sharpened pencils, Marcus Mumford, sending postcards, the smell of freshly cut grass, my atlas, red mittens, late summer zinnias, blueberry picking in Vermont, the moment when you first realize how much someone means to you
