My self-summary
Seattle (policy, development, etc.), sports, design, deconstructing empire/oppressive systems, social justice, advertising, art, music, urban planning, and people are strong interests of mine. I identify with the Catholic tradition, but I've also encountered meaning (and non-meaning and everything in-between) in many other ways in the world. I would expect that your (and everyone else's) life experience might reveal some things I've encountered and a whole lot of what I haven't.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a graphic/web designer for most of the week. Like most other designers/creative types, I am always in the middle of a freelance job or personal project (or seven). I can be found at Pioneer Square, Capitol Hill, or West Seattle coffee shops making these things.

I've been singing in a choir for the past ten-ish years while harboring a secret ambition to start a rock and/or roll band. I "slappa deeyah bass" and have the voice of an angel.

Long-distance running and walks are like vacations, except they happen more frequently, without the annoying paperwork of a day job. I also play rec league soccer a couple nights a week and have recently tried my hand(s) at boxing.

When I'm at the bar, I'm drinking an IPA or whiskey ginger (ale or beer). Or water. But everyone drinks that.
I’m really good at
keeping eye contact, smiling, telling dad jokes, running for a long time, drawing things, using sports analogies to explain complex life problems, falling asleep on the bus, constructing portmanteau, boogying, staying up late, pressing the snooze button, seeing the bigger picture, and having a good time.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm brown.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Art of Loving, The BFG, The Divine Milieu, East of Eden, Lonesome Dove, The New Jim Crow, The Pilgrimage, The Prophet, The Sickness Unto Death, Silence, The Sun Also Rises, and Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Movies: Coming to America, Forrest Gump, Happy Gilmore, Hook, I Love You, Man, and The Shawshank Redemption. Mad Max: Fury Road and that pretty dope, too.

Shows: Bob's Burgers, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Master of None, Twin Peaks

Music: Andrew Bird, The Beatles, Blue Scholars, Cat Stevens, Chromeo, CHVRCHES, Dr. Dog, Kendrick Lamar, New Order, Otis Redding, Paul Simon, Sharon Van Etten, Sufjan Stevens, Vampire Weekend, and Van Morrison. Spotify's Discover Weekly feature is the perfect blend of creepy and affirming. When driving, I listen to oldies. Or sports radio. But that's not music, so I'm not sure why I included that here.

Food: I'm allergic to fish and nuts (except almonds), so I'll eat anything that aren't those things. I've been trying a gluten-free diet lately and I'm surprised about how much better I've been feeling. Selling fruit at farmers markets for a couple summers introduced me to the wonder of pluots. I really like hot/spicy/salty food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
upaya, Suscipe, "thou mayest", and what I'm thankful for.
On a typical Friday night I am
Pike/Pine-ing, enjoying a pitcher with friends, or watching Bob's Burgers from my couch.
You should message me if
you're cooler in-person than you are online, you're not perfect and aren't expecting me to be, and you don't want me to send you any dickpics.
