Books: Whatever I'm currently reading which right now is a my third
read-through of Pale Fire by Nabokov. Also, I just got through a
kick of reading Heinlein. I've read Harry Potter and Redwall more
than once. I read a lot of political theory. Arendt's On Violence
and Connolly's The Ethos of Pluralization are two of my recent
conquests. And everything Nabokov ever wrote that was translated
Movies: I like anything that challenges me. And anything that is
beautiful. I'm willing to watch any movie but am also willing to
stop watching it. I am a sucker for anything with Alan Rickman,
Alan Cumming or Dame Maggie Smith. There were about four years
there where I saw a total of 4 movies in theaters, but I've been
finding myself going more and more frequently. Also, does Wizard
People, Dear Reader count?
Shows: I watch too much television. It's something that I always
say that I'll cut back on, but I probably won't. I've watched all
of Doctor Who (since 2005), Breaking Bad, Dexter, HIMYM, Bones,
Firefly, and too many other shows. I'm currently mainlining
Broadchurch. My favorite cartoons as a child were reruns of Jonny
Quest and the Perils of Penelope Pitstop. And gameshows.
I like most kinds of music. I know if I like it once I've heard it.
I like The Virgins self-titled album, Leftover Crack, early Flaming
Lips, George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, mid-90s R&B, and
anything I can dance to.
My five favorite shows were TVOTR at Loufest, a Wilco show in
Alabama, an Of Montreal show in Chattanooga, and two shows in my
frat house: a bluegrass band called the Can Kickers, and The
I have more music on my iPod than I have listened to, and putting
it on shuffle is always a new experience.
Whatever I cook (even if it's not that good). I try to experiment,
using my sparse pantry as an episode of Chopped.
I have a soft spot for cheap Chinese food.
When I eat at Pappy's, I am in heaven.
My favorite meal was one that I had in Sorrento (right after I
graduated high school) that was simple, fresh, and modern Italian.
