I am a trusted advisor, determined, and inquisitive.
My Self-Summary
I like intelligent, creative, and humorous interactions. I enjoy
the outdoors, travel,
flying the airplane myself,
I've worked around all kinds of
horses (mostly breeding stock in the
equine field of craziness ~ QH, TB, Arabians, Standardbreds, and
all kinds of uses for horses), people, and businesses. I especially
enjoy quiet one on one time. I know who I am; a casual, direct and
goal oriented, no mental games playing individual. I'm a keeper of
confidences, direct, a problem solver, and try to focus on what's
important. I'll admit that I'm not whimsical or especially silly,
but I like to see the
humor in things, even it is occasionally a
little warped. I really appreciate humorous stories and silly
photos, and admit to being a Far Side, Dilbert, and Calvin &
Hobbes fan. Drop me a note or IM me and we can discuss the leading
issues of the day, or whatever ...
What I’m doing with my life
Working, on the road presenting at meetings, reading and working on
my notebook for hours a day. When I can, I'm flying (Comm-I ASMEL)
to my meetings and trying to see a few out of the way, and off the
beaten track, sites while I'm out and about. That's one of the
advantages of using a smaller plane instead of being herded along
by TSA at the airports. I still do consulting work with horse and
livestock owners on breeding farm management, family business
owners and other control freaks, so I need a steady source of
aspirin for that crowd. I like to read and will watch TV (History
channel, Discovery, and the USA and TNT networks for mindless
entertainment) and the news.
I'm better at one on ones than large groups, although I work with
large groups all the time, I find them sort of draining to be "up
and animated" for a bunch of strangers. I have sort of a mentoring
personality, and have taught and managed people for years. As I've
grown up, I've learned that having relationships is not so much
about me, as it is about interacting and having a connection with
someone else, and I think it's important to first be basically a
decent person.
I've had the chance to travel through most of the USA and Canada,
some in Europe and had a few adventures along the way. I like
learning new things and admit to being sort of a news junkie, but
realize that much of what I read is mostly not going to affect me
in my day to day life.
I’m really good at
Thinking about solutions, creating a plan and acting on it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm direct, curious, comfortable, pragmatic, and usually the go-to
person when someone wants to get something done.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Favorite
authors -- Historical fiction, WEB Griffin, James Michener,
Nelson DeMille, John Grisham, Louis L'Amour, Dale Brown, Dick
Francis, Ken Follett, Clive Cussler, Harold Coyle, Jack Higgins,
Michael Crichton, Carl Hiassen, Len Deighton, Robert Ludlum,
Jeffrey Archer, Isaac Asimov.
Movies -- Comedies
lead the list. Pure escapism, e.g., Rustler's Rhapsody, Johnny
Dangerously, Princess Bride, Weekend at Bernie's, most of the Mel
Brooks' movies. I like sci-fi/fantasy (Star Wars, Star Trek,
Terminator, Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings),
drama (Lawrence of Arabia, Shawshank Redmption, The Godfather, The
Sting), action (Indiana Jones series, Jason Bourne series, Man from
Snowy River, The Right Stuff, Apollo 13, Top Gun, McClintock,
Patton, Longest Day), suspense, and mysteries too.
Music -- I like
Celtic (Enya, Clannad, Irish Rovers, Chieftains, Moya/Maire
Brennan), Instrumentals (Patrick Ball, Mannheim Steamrollers),
light classical, 60's 70's oldies.
Food -- Comfort food,
strawberry shortcake. I prefer a steak over fish, and a burger over
tofu, basically, I'm carnivorous.
The six things I could never do without
Access to the Internet and technology.
Freedom to come and go.
Ability to set my own schedule and priorities.
The freedom to hop in the plane and just go.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out for a walk, fixing dinner, finishing the final edits on a
newsletter, reading the news wire and getting some boxes ready to
ship to APO FPO overseas to Iraq or Afghanistan. I know this isn't
sexy or especially helpful, but it's usually what's really going on
a Friday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
If you're pitching a private pay per view cam show or are a
stalking cyber pretender, just skip me; I don't want to waste time
for either of us.
I don't mind meeting for lunch or dinner (I do it all the time,
it's not really that stressful and everyone needs to eat
occasionally), and if I'm not your cup of tea, good luck in your
search. It's a hassle to respond politely and find out it's a big
game or a scam. Also, I'm known as a pain in the butt, but I prefer
to think of it as my problem solving and determined persona. I am
paid to tell people what they need to know, not what they want to
hear, and that gets me into trouble all the time.
You should message me if
You're a smart, confident woman with a sense of humor who doesn't
take herself too seriously. No drama queens or self-absorbed
airheads, thanks. Life is too short to be dealing with someone's
craziness or erratic behavior. I'm not looking for a life partner
or to start a family right now, or for someone to reform me into an
ideal soul mate.
I've found you really can't change people, so you'll have to put up
with what's already there. Someone who likes to have her toes curl
when she's being touched is always fun. ;-), but emails or
correspondence is just fine, really. If you're going to email me, I
will respond (usually the same day) and I'll try to follow up. I
expect people who'd like to communicate to at least have the
courtesy to reply or let me know there's no connection.
If you decide you want lunch, put your hair in a ponytail, put on
your jeans and don't make a big stressful production out of it. I
don't judge women by their haute couture clothing, name brands
don't impress me, and spending all that emotional energy on making
everything perfect with accessories and fashionista makeup is
probably wasted on me. Sorry, I'm a sort of what you see is what
you get personality.
