I'm a 25 year old Austin transplant from Bluefield, VA. I've been here for three years and I'm loving so far.
For fun: I'm a musician, so music and all things related have always been a staple for me. I like to drive around and explore the city when I can, I play golf but I love ping pong. I like to read too, anything really. But science fiction and fantasy are the best. And of course, wasting time on the internet.
For work:I'm a high purity pipe/tubing welder for a contractor, we're at Samsung currently.
The past year I've really been into making crafts and such in the spare time, I've taken up calligraphy hoping it'll help on the road to full blown illumination. It's a dream that by my old age I'll have gotten pretty good at it. So my handwriting's been getting way better too.
What I’m doing with my life
I tried the college experience, found it not to my liking, and decided to go with the trade route instead! So far it's been golden. I've got the wanderlust though.
I’m really good at
Ping pong, pretty good with a guitar (even better with a bass!). I'm a pretty mean TIG welder too. I like to drive long distances, so I've become a pretty good driver.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've got a deeper voice than one would think, says a friend. I yawn a bunch. I can be aloof at times.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Stormlight Archive, Wheel of Time, Sandman and what little of The Dreaming I read (graphic novels, they count kinda), most of Michael Crichton's books were pretty good. I liked most of Jonathan Swift's work, Oscar Wilde and Victor Hugo, but other than those not much for 'classic' authors. I dislike having to list every book or author I've ever read, there are so many I'm forgetting ehehe.
My favorite movie is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. My movie and musical tastes are all over the place, but I think there are gems in every genre. I like listening to background music when doing things, but Say Anything is my favorite band.
I love mexican, korean, indian and japanese food! With heavy emphasis on sushi, oh yes.
The six things I could never do without
Assuming internal organs and first world living conditions are no game, I choose...
1. Lamy Safari
4. Electric kettle
5. Music instruments
6. PS Vita
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The vastness of space, where I'm going in life, middle earth, what I read last night, my family.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sleeping, or reading. Maybe at a show, or driving around the city.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There exists on my body several inches of skin inked to the reverence of J.R.R. Tolkien.
You should message me if
you like to read!
