I am artistic, open-minded, and self-aware.

My Self-Summary

Here we go again...time to revisit, review and revise. I've decided to change the format of this description thingy a bit.

~ First, I am married, to my male partner of over 17 yrs
~ Our relationship is polyfidelitous in nature (look it up if you aren't familiar)
~ His profile can be seen here as: nar55555
~ I cannot stress this enough, I am polyfi, not a swinger, and not into casual relationships. We are very committed in our life partnerships.

~ I am looking for friends...not new sex toys. Yes, of course, ideally I would love to meet others that will eventually develop into something more intimate...but that takes time, commitment and a base of friendship. So, I'm really not looking for anything more at the moment.

Who am I looking for?

Honest; self aware; non-dramatic; eco-conscious; fun loving; open minded, friendly; emotionally available; expressive and open; sexual AND sensual (and comfortable & open with both); comfortably affectionate; passionate (rather than apathetic, in life not just in regard to sex); intelligent people. If you couldn't see yourself in a committed relationship, then we would never be more than friends; and I don't do the "friends with benefits" thing. I don't have a specific physical "type", although I do suppose I have a few mild preferences; I seem to have rather wide parameters for what I find attractive. I am not ageist, but I do have a son that is 21 yrs and cannot imagine becoming involved with anyone close to his age.

~ I am truly unfond of cigarette smoke, apathy and people that use single letters ("U" for you, "R" for are) and numbers to replace actual spelling and articulate speech. I do believe that just about anything in moderation can be "ok", balance is a good thing, and intelligence comes in many flavours.

Who am I? (a few descriptive words, although I am usually unfond of labels)

Down to earth, open minded, self-aware, polyfidelitous, non-theistic, passionate, painfully honest, curvy & tall, tree-hugger, driven, humanist, sexual, fun loving, creative, intelligent, "pan" sexual (again, look it up if you're not familiar), artistically inclined, musically challenged (but have an intense love and appreciation for most music and those that CAN create it).

~ I am quite fond of languages...and the use of words.
~ I am also quite fond of the word FUCK (really, it's a great word)

Three of my favorite sayings

1) "Never try to teach a pig to sing; it only wastes your time and annoys the pig."
2) "You are not your fucking khakis!"
The first two reflect my sometimes cynical view of society & people in general. (not specifically, but relating to "the masses")
3) "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

If you've gotten this far...give yourself a big gold star...and perhaps, take a break, get up and walk around a bit...and by all means...continue on if you haven't run screaming from the room yet!

Oh, just a note...this has to be one of the most accurately articulated myer/briggs type tests I've taken here(of course, it's all in fun): The Ultra Ultimate Personality Test

What I’m doing with my life

Oh hell...am I supposed to be DOING something????

Well, then...I guess I'll just admit, that I have a plethora of projects going right now. Although I am completely in agreement that we should learn and embrace the concept that we are human "beings" not human "doings"...

The project that I am focusing most of my energies, time and effort on at this moment is the creation of a nonprofit org, promoting awareness of sustainability and educating the public. The focus is on practicing, promoting and creating opportunities for green living/building, voluntary simplicity, sustainability, homesteading, healthful foods, de-stressing, building community, local commerce, artistic expression, and responsible lifestyles.

Update (as of Dec. 6th, 2008): We got it! That pile of paperwork I submitted (which amounted to about 145 pgs by the time I finished and sent it in) was accepted and rewarded with a 501c3 status! It's official, we are tax exempt! Now, I'm looking for land grants, someone that wants to donate MI acreage, and anyone that has knowledge of property law in relation to nonprofits, particularly in MI; and trying to figure out how to create a website that isn't going to cost us an arm & a leg. (=

I also homeschool...have for the last 11 yrs or so. My oldest has been done for about 5 1/2 yrs now (he's 22yrs); I'm still homeschooling my youngest (17yrs).

I’m really good at

Being a catalyst, artistic/creative endeavors, giving hugs, creative cooking, being socially flexible & approachable, cuddling and maintaining a general positive outlook.

Before going on to the next part of this, (this is the disclaimer ) understand, I actually love people, in general...but I did want to be honest about what I'm truly not good at...

What I'm really bad at: finishing things! Being a catalyst means I start things, I'm good at initiating...but horrible at finishing most things/projects. I am also not great at tolerating religious folks, or the inane...this ability has lessened as I've gotten older. I used to say that I respected all religions...I don't. I do respect everyone's RIGHT to religion...I just have a really difficult time respecting the person that needs a religion; they are all the same to me, designed to pacify, comfort and placate the masses. Now, the inane...I have absolutely no problem acting a fool, or tolerating others that enjoy a bit of silliness...what I do have difficulty with are those that refuse to use the brain they were born with and have let it atrophy to the point where we as a society must make laws to protect them from their own stupidity.

The first things people usually notice about me

Ok...I've actually asked several people I know...and the consensus is:

1) My eyes...I am fond of eye contact and have been told my eyes are rather intense.

2) My hair...it's rather wild...and slightly reddish.

3) That I seem approachable & friendly...people always seem to feel comfortable with me, tell me things they probably shouldn't, and act as if they've known me for years.

4) My height...I'm 5'9"...I guess that's tall for a woman? (at least around here)

5) That I am expressive...and I do talk with my hands...or whatever else I find useful.

6) My breasts...hmmm...no comment

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I have a really difficult time with anything that asks for "favorites"...I don't have just a few favorites of anything...life is all about variety for me...so, my lists are usually rather long.

A) Books: most Shakespeare; Heinlein (esp. Time Enough for Love & Stranger in a Strange Land), Watership Down, The Stand, Douglas Adams, Piers Anthony, Robert Asprin, Jane Austen, E.B.Browning, Thoreau, Kurt Vonnegut, the Tao of Pooh; books on green living/building, sustainability, simplicity, cooking, tantra, philosophy, socio/psycho/anthropological essays/documents; Mother Earth News & Countryside Journal zines.

B) Movies: Serenity, Secretary, Idiocracy, Pan's Labyrinth, Delicatessen, Pay it Forward, Brazil, Pi, Office Space, Galaxy Quest, Momento, Chocolat, Amelie, Supersize Me, What ever Happened to Baby Jane, The Gods Must be Crazy, Fight Club, Being John Malkovich, Princess Bride, Tank Girl, Cinema Paradiso, the zombie genre in general (original "___ of the dead" movies, Shaun of the Dead, Fido, 28 Days Later, etc), documentaries, erotica. TV stuff: Invader Zim, Dr. Who, the Venture Brothers, Survivor, Public Tele, Torchwood, Hockey, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Jeopardy, Heroes, CSI (the original).

C) Most any music...really. I suppose the exception would be hardcore rap and whiny/twangy country. I adore blues. Favorite genres include: blues, jazz, classical, ska, world, punk/alternative, techno/electronica/club, classic rock, reggea, folk, most anything live. Some favorite artists/groups: Koop, Dresden Dolls (Amanda Palmer), Eric Clapton, The Herbaliser, Blue Man Group, Regina Spektor, Dave Matthews, Santana, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Feist, Macy Gray, Lords of Acid, Jazzamor, The Doors, Bjork, Deep Forest, The Ditty Bops, Black Eyed Peas, Ramones, Violent Femmes, Tori Amos, Jethro Tull, B52's.

D) Anything fresh, not processed; curries; pumpkin cheesecake; anything grilled; asparagus & broccoli; lobster, crab, scallops in hot butter; fresh baked bread; fresh fruits; soups in general; spicy foods; sushi. I love to cook/create...and have a passion for making breads & soups especially.

Ok...one more category (like this profile needs to be any longer!) Favorite past-times: I like playing (or trying to play) racquetball, tennis, disc golf; sports I like to watch are hockey and Highland games. I am not competitive...and although I do have a tendency to get a little excited about hockey, I am not a sports fanatic. (= I love games: settlers of catan, munchkins, al humbra, carcassone, bang, euchre, spades, hearts, killer bunnies, pictionary, cranium, mario cart & party, tsuro, and a variety of other card, board, and party games.

The six things I could never do without

Ok...beyond the obvious air, food, water... Honestly, I could do without most things. But #1 & 2 (which really go together in my life) would be the most difficult to deal without. I've placed the rest in order of value to me...hmmm...passion and purpose seem to also go together (in my opinion)...

1. Love & Affection

2. Family & close friends (which for me kinda goes with #1)

3. Passion (in general, for life, as well as sexual)& Sex

4. Purpose

5. Nature

6. Music & Art

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The environment, and my place in it. Society, and my place in it. How to deal with all of the sheep without becoming a herder...or one of the wolves. Why people are so clueless, thoughtless, selfish, irresponsible, vacuous, shallow. What I can do to bring something positive, if only to a small part of the world. Whatever project I am currently involved in...usually something communally minded, green centered, or artistically inclined. Sex, and generally things of a sensual nature.

On a typical Friday night I am

There is no "typical"...but I do enjoy going out with those I like being around, to one of the cafes, for coffee and live music; or the Celtic Hearth for guinness and live music; or even the new arts center at Notre Dame for a movie/play/dance/musical performance. Or, I'm at home relaxing with friends, playing games, chatting, laughing, sharing. And then of course, there are those fridays that I just want to sit around in very little clothing, lounging lazily, watching a movie, the fire, doing a sudoku puzzle, reading a magazine/book, or having sex. I can't imagine having a "typical" friday...life is all about change.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Hmmm...

I used to suck my thumb.

I've fantasized about sex on a train.

I used to ride (as well as own) horses. Eeeewww...no, not that kinda "ride"...you sicko!

I still like to listen to some of the "old" songs from when I was in highschool/college (My Sharona, Come on Eileen, Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Rock Lobster, I Want Candy)

I've never contemplated suicide...although I can name a select few that I've contemplated assisting.

I absolutely adore watching hockey!

I have 3 real vices: movie popcorn, coffee icecream, chewy cookies (ok, apparently there are 4...I have to add: Godiva truffles - these are practically orgasmic)

You should message me if

1) you are: self aware, conscious, communally inclined, sexually comfortable, open minded, poly in nature (but NOT a swinger).

2) you want: engaging conversation, to play in the mud, start a friendship, build community, or hang out with fun loving people. (or you want to join our lil' sustainable effort in some way)

Not that you have to be or want absolutely all of the above...that's just a list of possibilities...pick one or two. (=
