I'm cis, male, nonmonogamous, and a full time student majoring in physics, with designs on medical school. I take care of plants, mostly miscellaneous medicinal herbs and native plants as well as a few root vegetables that were mostly rescued from the cutting board in my kitchen. The world and its processes and the relationships between physical phenomena, life forms, and the intelligence of plants and animals all bring me a great deal of excitement. So, yeah, I spend a lot of time reading, learning about things, and relating what I learn to the people in my life.
I like talking about intersectionality, and the politics and ethnographies of fields, disciplines, institutions, and other social phenomena that are usually depoliciticized -- particularly science, mathematics, technology, medicine, and academia, but also personal relationships and day-to-day social interactions. I can get a bit abstract and heady at times, but politics isn't real to me unless it's personal, so I try to hold myself accountable to stay rooted in the real world first and foremost.
That said, accountability is super important to me, especially self-accountability, and it's important for me that the people in my life are down for accountability and understand that it doesn't need to be this sort of punitive, punishing process, but one which protects people and encourages healthy relationships (but that that definitely doesn't mean it's comfortable).
ok and im totally aware this shit is making me come off really uptight and kinda square, which is pretty true but also not. but it mostly is. basically: I'm a nerd who is passionate (and slightly obsessive) about things and I'm looking for people who have similar interests or similar levels of passion for whatever it is they do, and above all else, people who are critical and self-aware, and mindful of privilege and oppression, who wont ruin my fucking day with some bullshit comment or ironic racism/(trans)misogyny. thx
