I am brunette, San Diegan, and feminist-y.

My Self-Summary

Pretty much all I do is quote Anchorman, American Psycho, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Ghostworld, The Simpsons, and anything else I find funny, and with no regard for anyone's perception of my maturity level. I'm a big fan of Rock Band, going to shows, watching movies like crazy, going to plays (preferably not musicals), reading, dancing, drinking beer, and walking around New York.

What I’m doing with my life

What am I doing with my life? Umm, good question. Other than trying to figure out what I'm ultimately going to do with my life, I work at a non-profit, I blog for a magazine, and try to have as much fun as possible in the process-- which is pretty easy in NYC.

I’m really good at

Spending money beyond my means, remembering/reciting favorite quotes from favorite movies, and writing about gender studies stuff that no one cares to read about in blog form.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm 5'2".

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm pretty open to reading different types of fiction, as most of what I read otherwise is post-colonialist/feminist/gender issue-related non-fiction. I just finished the Adventures of Kavalier & Clay (yes, I know I'm behind the times), and just stopped reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins (it got a little dry, and I couldn't handle it). I'm now reading Klosterman's Sex, Drugs & Cocopuffs (another one I'm super late on getting around to reading). Some of my other favorite authors/writers include Judith Butler, Anne Sexton, Toni Morrison, Katha Pollitt, Jane Austen, the Brontes, Jennifer Baumgardner, JD Salinger, Cynthia Enloe, Carson McCullers, F. Scott Fitzgerald, TS Eliot, JD Salinger, Michele Williams, Sandra Cisneros, Angela Davis, David Sedaris.

Fave movies: American Psycho, The Shining, Point Break, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Brokeback Mountain, Donnie Darko, Harold & Maude, All About Eve, The Dreamers, Annie Hall, Closer, Wet Hot American Summer, Wayne's World I & II, Back to the Future.

So, a lot of people have been asking how I can be a feminist and like American Psycho at the same time. And to that I say that you clearly don't understand the movie (or book!). Honestly, if you don't get how it's a social commentary, I really, really don't want to talk to you.

Favorite Music: Neko Case, Joanna Newsom, Roisin Murphy, Junior Boys, Ryan Adams, Sufjan Stevens, Cat Power, Elliott Smith, Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, LCD Soundsystem, the Arcade Fire, David Bowie, Cut Copy, M83, MGMT, Vampire Weekend

Food: Thai, Mexican, Italian, Indian, chocolate

The six things I could never do without

Music, Movies, Books, Feminism, Art, Thai food

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Feminism/Gender Studies, movies, music, what I'm going to write about next, what I'm going to do with my life.

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably out & about somewhere.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I admit far too much, so I'm going to take a pass on this question.

You should message me if

You have similar interests, aren't hideous, have something interesting to say, and aren't closed-minded and judgmental.
