I am fine, thanks for asking, and how are you?.

My Self-Summary

I enjoy efficiency, subtlety and circumlocution. They're lovely words and even better traits. I don't necessarily practice all or any of them, though.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a mathematician. I spend an inordinate amount of time reading from and scribbling on pieces of paper, or drawing pictures and waving my hands as I try to explain what I am thinking or not thinking about.

In order to get paid to do this, I teach. It's surprisingly interesting to explain something you know well to an audience. Although I'm very suspicious of the efficacy of lecture, I've grown to enjoy it.

Sometimes I play with paper, either folding or making things that should not be. I don't do this enough anymore since grad school anxiety is a fairly powerful thing.

I have a very simple long term goal. I'd like to own some land and grow some truffles.

I’m really good at

foursquare. It's certifiable too, I gots awards and stuff.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair, according to one of my roommates, is remarkably "sheeny". And by remarkable I mean she tells me this at least five times a day.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Ahh, consumption. You are what you eat, or so the theory goes.

Ahem, my favorite... (a) books are loaned, borrowed, dog-eared, or yet to be read. (b) movies are thirty to sixty seconds long. (c) music reminds me of the desert. (d) foods are either spicy or an acquired taste.

The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Sitzfleisch, damn. I gotta get me some of that.

On a typical Friday night I am

trying desperately to get me some sitzfleisch.
