My Self-Summary
I'm a grad student (Translation: I work too much, and I kinda like
it). I love to run, hike and bike, though I don't do any of these
as often as I'd like. I'm a huge sports fan, and I spend a lot of
time watching games; I also play a lot of IM sports, though I'm
average at best. I also enjoy semi-obscure board games like
Settlers of Catan and Pirateer.
What I’m doing with my life
Learning and doing science. Specifically, making batteries that
don't crap out so quickly. Doing some teaching, too.
I’m really good at
science - or at least I'm really good at making everyone else
believe this. I am also very proficient at Duck Hunt. I once bowled
a 201 game; this was the highlight of my undergraduate drunk-sports
career.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books - Catch-22, Candide, The Great Gatsby, The Big Sleep, The
Iliad, plus everything by Mark Twain or Kurt Vonnegut. And Harry
Potter. I've recently taken an interest in Chuck Klosterman's
stuff. I also really enjoy essays - particularly Malcolm Gladwell
and Michael Lewis.
Movies - Almost Famous, Pulp Fiction, Blues Brothers, and Manhattan are standouts. I also like spaghetti westerns, Wes Anderson movies, and classics (think Casablanca).
Music - standouts are Weezer, The Beatles, KT Tunstall, Ben Folds, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Kanye West (his insanity makes him irresistible), Flight of the Conchords, and Van Halen (yes, really). Also, I miss the concept of the album. Singles are nice, but feel unsubstantial.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
the future, and where I'm going. Also, I spend a lot of time
thinking about sports, and when my teams will stop losing.
On a typical Friday night I am
probably out. Typically I'll be at a friend's party or out on the
town. In case of poor weather or lack of sleep, I'll stay in and
watch something from Netflix... or viral internet videos.

I peed my pants in class during Reading Rainbow in second grade.
