I am geeky, indecisive, and friendly.

My Self-Summary

Okay, so please don't be put off by those three adjectives at the top. I just find it impossible to summarize myself in three words. Which probably means I should have chosen "difficult" or "annoying" for at least one of the above...
Now in German
Laßt euch nicht von den drei Adjektiven irritieren. Es fällt mir irgendwie schwer, mich in drei Worten zu beschreiben. Harte Schale, weicher Kern, wäre vielleicht eine passende Beschreibung.
Now in French
Ca fait vraiment longtemps que je n'ai pas parlé en francais, alors excusez-moi, si je fais des fautes...
Now in Italian
Ciao! Ho fatto solo un anno d'italiano, allora scusate se ci sono troppi errori nella mia descrizione...

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently doing an MA in Shakespeare Studies - and yes, I realise this statement will probably send most people running for the hills - but hey, I'm a geek and proud of it ;-)

I’m really good at

Well, I grew up bilingual in Germany, and I've always been interested in languages, so I guess that's something I'm good at. (Apart from Latin. Ugh! Could never get to grips with it.)

The first things people usually notice about me

My incredibly inept efforts to conceal my geekiness?
Other than that, perhaps my 'Arts and Humanities' glasses (I have a whole theory about subjects and glasses. It's complicated...).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: over the past year I've managed to read the complete works of Shakespeare (some of them voluntarily). Apart from that... Virginia Woolf, Maggie O'Farrell, George Eliot, Notes on a Scandal, Middlesex, The Hours, The Remains of the Day, The Reader, and many more.

Movies: Paradise Road, The Hours, anything with Jodie Foster in it (although she's been choosing some appallingly bad scripts lately), Forrest Gump, The Reader...

Music: a wider variety. I'll try anything once, and am always grateful for new suggestions, as I quickly get bored with my itunes library.

Food: is great, in general. Especially anything involving potatoes.

The six things I could never do without

- music / my ipod
- great friends
- my family
- internet access
- books, or a pen and paper
- my hair straighteners (although that makes me sound incredibly vain. It's more a question of chaos management, really...)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Whatever essay I'm supposed to be writing.
My friends, and anything that may be happening in their lives.
What the German/French/Italian/English word for something is (I still experience the occasional "foreign moment").
What to eat next :-)

On a typical Friday night I am

...either at the pub, or over at a friend's house watching great films or crap TV - whichever we're in the mood for.

You should message me if

My profile hasn't scared you away, and you might actually be interested in getting to know me - despite the inherent geekiness and my compulsive use of smileys :-)
