I am intellectual, odd, and sweet.
My Self-Summary
I suppose I ought to describe my personality. I'm smart, loyal, and
quirky. I'm not a morning person, but I tend to bring a lot of
enthusiasm to anything I choose to do, and that includes getting
started on the day. I always do a bit of
hiking whenever I have time, but I have
not done much hiking since moving to California. Still, I know some
really nice trails in the Smokey Mountains, in the Redwoods, and in
the mountains around Salt Lake City. Some hikes are too beautiful
not to share and I'd love to share some of the better views with
someone, wherever I am. I like
dancing, too, (except for line-dancing -
too much potential for getting trampled ;) ).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a scientific researcher (Biochemistry) and I have now settled
in Davis, California, having completed a series of short postings
in California, Denmark (Copenhagen), North Carolina (Raleigh), and
China (Beijing). Getting to see the world was great for a couple of
years, but getting to stop and settle in one place is pretty darn
nice too. Still, I like traveling enough that I'll probably be
traveling for the next few vacations; there's still too much of the
world I have not seen yet and lots of places worth revisiting.
The first things people usually notice about me
I come at things from an odd angle. I tend to give thoughtful
answers to trite social questions, just to cause people to think
about things. I'm the sort of guy who will sometimes answer the
question "What's up?" by saying either "Ceiling tiles." or "Several
miles of atmosphere and then the broad, broad universe." rather
than the expected answer.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I'm a
music fanatic
and I listen to a lot of different kinds of music... It's harder to
list what I'm into than to list what I'm not into; modern jazz (too
self-referential and undirected), hip-hop (10,000,000 songs about
butts), and country (mostly emotional appeals that don't resonate
with me). Currently, I've been listening to a lot of Death Cab for
Cutie and Faun.
The six things I could never do without
Three things I can't do without... Air, food, and drinkable water.
Pretty much everything else is optional to some degree, isn't it?
Things I'd miss greatly if they went away is a different question.
On that list, I'd include
freedom,
literature, and
music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. An examined life is a fullfilling life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either having a beer with coworkers or going to a
yoga class.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Hm. I've been writing stories for my nephews and niece. My family
keeps trying to get me to look into publishing them, but I don't
think I ever will. I'm happy enough being the favorite author of an
extremely limited group of kids, ages 3-6.
You should message me if
You are smart, single, female, interested in lots of different
things and experiences, confident, and looking for an equal with
whom to share your time.
