My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Things I have going for me: I'm tall, smart, good at conversation, funny, sensitive, and I have a million dollars. Also one of those is not true.

I subscribe to a logical, scientific, rationalist worldview that I wish I could follow more often. But huge parts of life seem to me to be totally irrational, like aesthetics, love, sex, why some people like spicy food, why the Rolling Stones are better than the Beatles, etc. I'm a somewhat strident atheist, but I do believe in some things: Freudian psychological concepts, human rights, the power of rock and roll, and the importance of being kind to other people.

I like all the things that everyone likes: travelling, drinking beer, learning new things..., nature, especially monkeys, coffee, punk rock, highbrow cinema, Indian food, laughing, the satisfaction that comes from minor accomplishments.

Actually I'm quite boring, but hanging out with me is always fun because I can squeeze something funny or interesting out of any situation.

I also decided a few years ago to try to be a genuinely nice person and I think it's working out pretty well so far.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I teach math at a high school in the suburbs, which is way more challenging, rewarding, and fun than I ever would have imagined. No two days are the same, and I like my school and my students, so I'll probably be there for awhile.

There are a lot of youtube videos of me teaching math, so if you want to see what I look like walking around and talking, just ask and I'll send you the link.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Quickly looking up things on wikipedia and then talking about them like I'm an expert.

Dropping things accidentally and then catching them before they hit the ground.

The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, The Fall, Sonic Youth, Beat Happening, the Brian Jonestown Massacre. I do realize that it's really uncool to talk about bands that are 15-45 years old, so... sorry.

I really like the Answer Me This podcast.

Just read Geek Love and I'm still reeling.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
... how to pressure myself to be a better person while also accepting my flaws enough to be fundamentally happy.

... which lane of traffic is going to move the most in the next 30 seconds.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Removing everything that doesn't look like an elephant.

... you actually made it to the end of this profile.

... if I messaged you first. Seriously. That means my team of researchers is already pretty sure we'd like each other.

Honestly, if you laugh at my jokes, all other attributes are optional.

I'm looking for that perfect combination of smart, sexy, nice, funny, and interesting. As many of those as I can get. 3 out of 5? 2 out of 5?
