My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, I'm Mark. :)

I am: an optimist, a realist, and a believer in being both; a typical Leo, a very typical ENTP, and a skeptic of easy labels; a former scientist, a current entrepreneur, and a future Mythbuster.

I have: won $200 in a poker tournament and $0 in a poetry slam; seen four continents, two mountain peaks, and one llama; a goofy laugh, a lot of freckles, and a slight romantic penchant.

I can: write in English, Ruby, and lolcat; quote a dozen movies from the 80's; rock the Warrior II; consistently find Waldo but lose my car keys.

I like: brainstorming startup ideas; reading fiction and writing non-fiction; squash, ultimate, and yoga; learning about almost anything.

I believe: that we are here to make ourselves and others happy; that the best path is love and work; that this is harder than it sounds but worth the effort.

Who I want to meet: someone who is an idealist, a realist, an intellectual, and a leader; someone who loves sports, trips, and purposefully getting lost; someone who would beat me in board games and debates but respect me in the morning; someone who is ambitious but grounded, assertive but tactful, brainy but humble; someone who would teach me something constantly; someone who is beautiful without and within.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally, I'm founder of a telepsychiatry startup. I'm technically still a Stanford student - twelfth-year senior and counting - because I dropped out twice to do startups. I finished all my classes and just keep my student status to sneak into the libraries and gyms.

Personally, I enjoy programming, mentoring, sports, and connecting with different kinds of people.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Brainstorming, learning, ribbing friends, dancing poorly, and not immediately eating the marshmallow.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Green eyes? Goofy laugh?

Probably that I use a lot of semicolons.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Dune, 1984, Michael Lewis, Robert Fulgham, Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, XKCD. Not exactly high-brow, I know.

(Latest: Ready Player One. Great for fans of the 80's.)

Movies: Lion in Winter, Pulp Fiction, Memento, Princess Bride, American Beauty, Monty Python, Shrek, Inception, Shaun of the Dead, Wall-E, The Social Network

TV: Daily Show, Colbert Report, South Park, 30 Rock, Homeland, Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Breaking Bad

Food: I'm like a dog; I have a very non-discriminating palate. You could feed me wood pellets and I'd ask for seconds. This makes me an affordable date.

Bonus - Favorite quotes:

"Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future." -Oscar Wilde

"Life must be lived as play." -Plato

"Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why. Then do it." -Robert A. Heinlein
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I think most of us can do without most things but I like:

- Reading: I sleep with my Kindle (platonically)

- NPR: especially Radiolab, Car Talk, and Wait, Wait

- Sports: if I were on Double Dare, I'd always take the physical challenge

- Learning: I regularly go on Wikipedian knowledge quests

- Games: anything from Catan and chess to Mass Effect and Words With Friends

(invalid words from WWF that I want to use in conversation: breachy, beercare, shats, joyboner)

- Good friends: the only real thing on this list I couldn't do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- Neuroscience and lucid dreaming. I studied them in college and though I'm a lousy researcher, I think they're fascinating. I'm especially into how science and technology can improve well-being.

- Non-obvious obvious facts, like how you're supposed to boil kale or not give chocolate to dogs. Someone should write a book of these and title it Duh.

- Startup ideas and how to be a warrior for good.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably doing something atypical. Suggest something to do!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I was trapped in a human-sized hamster ball by Gallagher. Unfortunately, no pics.
