Let's see - I generally love anything artistic (especially theater
and music) and dream of traveling to Europe someday - hopefully
soon :) I am currently a student coming to the end of my education
and I intend to be be a middle school or high school English
teacher. I chose English, because I love literature and the idea of
presenting it to students who are searching for their own passion,
but not because I enjoy grammar. Little known secret - we English
majors may understand grammar, but we hate it just as much as the
next person :). I also just got a job as an Instructional Assistant
at a near by school district. It doesn't pay much, but it's better
than minimum wage, and it get's my foot in the door as far as
teaching goes. I can't wait to start.
I am an English Literature major at CSU, San Bernardino and I will
probably be getting my Bachelore's degree at the end of the next
Winter quarter, so March of 2010, and then it's on to finishing my
teaching
credential.
Ok. This is weird. I'm not used to claiming what I do well, but I
guess I've always been good at listening, caring, and talking to
people and my friends about anything really. I have a tendency to
read people well. I'm honest and blunt. And I'm actually really
good at commitment (I'm not the cheating type). Other than that I
guess I understand poetry well and I'm generally good at Nintendo
Mario games :).
Well this is difficult considering that I'm speaking for other
people here, but I suppose people probably notice my eyes and my
sense of humor first.
Ok, here we go.
Reading:
I'm a
Harry
Potter geek, both books and movies. Other than that I love
historical fiction, usually about a particular person, and some
fantasy and a little sci-fi. I also really enjoy reading
mythology.
Some of my favorite reads are:
Harry Potter Series (Rowling, J.K.)
Ender's Game (Card, Orson Scott)
The Davinci Code (Brown, Daniel)
Memoirs of a Geisha (Golden, Arthur)
The Martian Chronicles (Bradbury, Ray)
Sacred Ground (Woods, Barbara)
Gilgamesh
Oedipus Rex (Sophocles)
Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Othello (Shakespeare)
Brother's Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson Fairy Tales
and some favorite poets include...
Robert Frost
John Keats
Percy Bysshe Shelley
Edgar Allen Poe (his short stories too)
Ok moving on...Music:
I absolutely love
musical theater: listening to
soundtracks, seeing live shows, and even acting in them (although I
haven't done that in a while). I could list you the musicals I
like, but then I'd be here all day. Basically if its Broadway I
love it. Especially anything done by Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd
Webber, or Steven Schwartz. Although I have to say my favorite show
right now has to be "
Spring Awakening" - hands down.
I love almost all music. The only things I really don't care for is
rap, hard metal, and techno - but everything else I love. I
especially like Oldies,
Alternative Rock, Classic Rock,
and Classical.
Some of my favorites are....
Incubus
The Beatles
Billy Joel
Queen
Green Day
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Black Sabbath
No Doubt
Bach
and lots lots more. I'm so bad about naming groups and singers that
I like. I know a bunch of songs and I know what I like, but I'm
just not the type of girl that can hear someone on the radio and
say "Oh that's so and so." So don't be surprised if I sing along to
everything. :)
Oh gee...I almost forgot Movies:
Anything Comedy, Romantic, some Drama, and anything based off a
Musical. Basically if the acting is really good I love it. Oh and
practically all Classic Disney movies and Pixar.
Some off the top of my head that I like are:
The Red Violin
Wall-E
Ratatouille
The Lion King
Under the Tuscan Sun
When Harry Met Sally
Sleepless in Seattle
Chicago
Moulin Rouge
What Dreams May Come
Wizard of Oz
Iron Man
The Dark Knight
Me and My Gal
Star Trek (the new one)
[Yes I have seen all the others, but the TV shows are by far
better]
Ok.....food:
I generally like food that's not fast food, but I do like fast food
when I must. I love....
Sushi and
Teppanyaki
Seafood
Italian
Chinese
and a normal old salad bar place- like Sizzler or Marie Calender's.
In no particular order...
My mother
Disneyland
Musical Theater
My dogs
Sushi
Fairy tales - both the original dark ones and the disney ones
Cuddling (when in a relationship)
What I'm doing, Where I'm going and will I like it when I get
there. And....I suppose (when I am really thinking about school and
work) how I and the rest of my generation of Teacher's are going to
make the school system better for future education.
Also....what's the next Musical that I am going to see. :) Next up
- Spring Awakening!
Hanging out with my friends when I can (i.e. at disneyland, movies,
or just hanging out) or just sitting at home, possibly playing free
online poker at full tilt poker. Maybe even seeing a muscial when I
get the chance.
I trust to easily, and at the same time - not easily enough. Oh,
and I am a total
Disney geek!
You are an honest and nice guy, and would like to get to know
me.
Oh and I totally stole this from another profile, but it rings true
for me as well so I've put it here:
DISCLAIMER:
I'M GOING TO BE HONEST, IF YOU'RE A SMOKER OR A DRUG USER THEN WE
REALLY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DISCUSS. CALL ME WHAT YOU WILL, AND
I'M SORRY, BUT I JUST DON'T HAVE ANY TOLERANCE WHATSOEVER FOR THAT
SORT OF THING.
(This is in reference to those that I date. If you just want to be
friends then I don't mind the smoking so much, but I draw the line
at anyone who does drugs.)
