My self-summary
I live just outside of Philly (seriously, you can get within walking distance of my house from the el. It's not some strange foreign land). I was previously in south Philly for 5 years, and I miss pretty much everything about it except the parking situation. I imagine I'll make my way back into the city someday, but for now I'm happy where I'm at, with my roommate and a cat that we took in after weeks of him hanging out in our backyard.

I'm originally from the jersey shore. I still enjoy surfing and the beach quite a bit, and while I'd be open to living somewhere other than southeastern pa, I think I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a coastal guy. I travelled cross country about 10 years ago, but I've yet to go elsewhere and I really want to. (I can't lie, some of the profiles on here make me feel like I've led a bit of a small existence. You guys have been to some cool places. Take me).

I've been in the mortgage/banking industry for a few years, after getting my BA and having all different kinds of jobs in my 20s, and I recently got to a place where I'm making a decent living at it. I'm not sure I want it to be my career, but it's fine for now, especially considering the job market.

When I'm not in my little cube, I play in a band. It's pretty much my favorite thing to do, but in 2014, being a professional musician is pretty much the same thing as being destitute, so it remains nothing more than my most beloved hobby. I also love going to the movies and watching my beloved Philadelphia Flyers (I won't make you watch them with me. But if you're one of those people who views enjoying pro sports as some sort of character flaw, I guess I'm not the one for you). And I'm open to pretty much anything else. What are you passionate about? Show it to me.
What I’m doing with my life
Work, band, gym, food. It's a work in progress. I'll get there.
I’m really good at
writing (my 12th grade english teacher told me she believed I could make a living at it. Too bad print is dead)
speaking (I've won public speaking awards. Dorkiest brag ever)
sleeping
coming up with clever, rarely used adjectives
chess (wanna play with me?)
Being the endlessly self promoting guy in every one of my bands who needles promoters into booking us
The first things people usually notice about me
I've got...ummm...a big personality. "Boisterous" is a good euphemism for it, but "loud" is probably a more accurate description. It's hard for me to go unnoticed.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Klosterman, Hunter S Thompson, David Sedaris, Charles Bukowski, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Catcher In The Rye, Our Band Could Be Your Life, Get In The Van, biographies of people I like, The Dirt: The Biography of Motley Crue (EASILY the most entertaining book ever written)

Quentin Tarantino, The Coen Brothers, Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson (except The Darjeeling Limited. That kind of stunk), Paul Thomas Anderson, Edgar Wright, Bill Murray, The Godfather, Good Will Hunting, The Shawshank Redemption, Almost Famous, Aliens, slasher movies, lots more. I'm pretty into the whole b movie "so bad it's good" thing.

Music is tough. There is so much. I've been called a "music snob" more than once. To name just a few: screeching weasel, the ramones, metallica, lifetime, descendents, hot water music, against me!, dear landlord, the steinways, Mötley Crüe, Poison, skid row (first two records), the explosion, bruce springsteen, lipstick homicide, anything wu tang related, the copyrights, dragonforce, Isis, flight of the conchords, the gaslight anthem, the leftovers, iron maiden, explosions in the sky. Oh and I LOVE Billy Joel. Completely unironically.

I also listen to the Howard Stern show every day, as well as a whole host of podcasts, including (but not limited to): WTF with Marc Maron, The Art of Wrestling, The Best Show On WFMU, Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, This American Life, How Did This Get Made? and Doug Loves Movies

My favorite food is pizza, but I've been pretty into pho lately as well. Oh and dan dan noodles from han dynasty. I'm not a picky eater. Let's try stuff.

The Sopranos, the first 12 or so seasons of The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Freaks and Geeks, the first 6 or so seasons of the american Office, Shameless
The six things I could never do without
4 years later and I still don't really care to answer this question. It just seems so stupid and constrictive. Either you go the literal route and say "food water shelter etc" or start listing your favorite stuff like your iphone. Either you come off as annoyingly literal or materialistic. In reality, there is very little that I could never do without, but quite a few things I'd rather hold onto.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hockey (I really love hockey), long and short terms solutions to get me where I want to be in life (I've even started trying to institute some of them), movies
On a typical Friday night I am
not doing a ton usually. I typically like to go to bed early on fridays because I'm tired from the week, then go out on saturdays. But sometimes I'll head to NJ to hang out with my best friend, or go to a show, or a movie or something
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have obstructive sleep apnea and I'm supposed to sleep with one of those ridiculous fighter pilot style masks on. I do it less than I should, which, considering the health risks, is foolish. But it's SO uncomfortable.

I also really enjoy overproduced warmed over newer "pop punk" bands like Fall Out Boy, The All American Rejects, Paramore, and Cartel. I've also seen every episode of Jersey Shore.

Oh and if you have a full body photo in your profile, I probably judged you by your shoes.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating

"If you want to" seems like the most logical answer.

I'm not going to kid myself. There are like 10 guys to every girl on this site, and most of those guys appear to be weirdos or pervs. So if you read this far and think I seem like an ok guy, go ahead and say hello. I'm a nice, respectful dude and I won't treat you like shit.
