My self-summary
you know that part in skip tracer where steve shelley switches from the ride to rimshots and it gets all pretty? a few seconds pass; lee ranaldo gives up talking and tries actually singing. i would like to think my good moments are kinda like that.
What I’m doing with my life
the other day, falling into a wikihole, i discovered that jackson browne wrote the song "these days" when he was 16; skipping classes and vandalism were my specialties at 16. in the wake of this discovery i am playing songwriting catchup with renewed fervor.
I’m really good at
satire, straight edge, dr.mario, buying camera equipment when i am broke, and parallel parking large vehicles.
The first things people usually notice about me
probably the fact that i am almost always smiling...that, or the sizable tattoo on the side of my head that says "no future."
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: gravity's rainbow, the abortion: an historical romance 1966, south of the border west of the sun, walden, breakfast of champions, v, been down so long it looks like up to me, death on the installment plan, against the day, desert solitaire, tell me how long the train's been gone.

tv: gene roddenberry, chris carter.

music of late: mission of burma, life without buildings, junior murvin, can, sonic youth, max roach, pharmakon, neu!, pylon, television, zomes, fela kuti, the jesus lizard, wilderness, zounds, 108, hugh mundell, the breeders (but kim's recent solo 7"s even more), crucifix, lungfish, deadguy, pavement, andy stott, human sexual response, spacemen 3, the necks, shipping news.
The six things I could never do without
-tour to get away from my real life
-a real life to make me appreciate touring
-guitar amplifiers
-time to read
-the promise of a more interesting future
-ethiopian food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
dissipation-driven adaptation of matter...and how when i grow up i want to look like this.
On a typical Friday night I am
popping bubble wrap, driving somewhere far away to play shows, running, testing mic placement, swinging kettlebells, star trekking, or other reclusive behavior.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i haven't used a fork in over 13 years.
You should message me if
you have a very direct, explicit thing you have been wanting to say to someone but felt it was inappropriate. this is an invitation to get weird.
