My Self-Summary

"Music is the universal language of mankind, so let's start the music, crank the volume, and see if we're in harmony!"

Hey there, I'm Nathan, but pretty much everyone except the immediate family call me Nate. Take your pick, I answer to both!

I'm looking to meet more people to chat or hang out with, friends, possibly find some folks with similar musical tastes who'd be interested in perhaps playing some music (I play guitar, write song lyrics, dabble in bass and keyboard, and need lessons so I can actually call that vocal thing singing :-P) I'd also like to meet a wonderful awesome girl to fall in love with, but I have my doubts that'll come from an internet site. Never know, though!

Some basic stuff about me:
- I love bringing a smile to the faces of people I care about.
- I am fiercely loyal to those people, almost to a flaw. You can count on me to stand by you through hard times and to stand up for you when you can't or won't for yourself.
- You get the real deal. I'm terrible at being a fake and I refuse to conform to things I don't believe in. I stand up for what I do. I'm the kind of person who will step up or speak up if other people are afraid to. That said, I'm very reasonable and up for compromising when necessary, and I do know when to keep my mouth shut (usually anyway!).
- I can be a leader, however I prefer teamwork and value input from others.
- I am honest and call it as I see it. I'm not a fan of outright lying to sugar coat something; I prefer the blunt, yet tact approach.
- I'm not really very religious, but until someone can prove that you can make something from nothing, I'm inclined to believe that the universe and everything in it had to come from somewhere. Then again, the universe is just a little bit older than I am, so I could be missing a piece of the puzzle. You never know!

I'll add some more details here when I get around to it, just trying to meet the minimum requirement thinger at the moment.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently living in a tiny little town about an hour or so north of Winnipeg, but I plan on getting out of here asap. It's just too small for my tastes. Barely anything to do, hours of driving away from all my friends, and absolutely no jobs available. I'll be moving back to Saskatchewan, Moose Jaw most likely, shortly in order to save up for PRK eye surgery to pursue my interests. Not sure where I'll go from there, Saskatchewan can be kind of dull, but we shall see!

What I'd really, really like is to join or form a band and play music for a living. That would be great. If that doesn't work out though, I'll probably end up pursuing some sort of career in Law Enforcement. Might be interesting to be an officer and eventually an investigator solving crimes. I think I would be good at it. The band thing would still be my preference though. I believe it'd be a pretty amazing feeling to play a show for people and have them singing songs I wrote along with me.

I'm also thinking about taking up Mixed Martial Arts. I've developed quite an interest in MMA and I think it'd be fun to participate in it for competition. It'd also be great for getting myself back into really good shape and knowing how to defend yourself is always good.

I’m really good at

Writing, apparently listening to problems and giving advice, talking people through hard times, making people laugh, falling down hills while attempting to ski/snowboard, making the flukiest shots in pool or bowling, and guitar (or so my buddies tend to say, anyways. I personally think I don't practice nearly enough to achieve my full potential.)

I'm also apparently very good at singing, but only once in a blue moon when everything clicks. Perhaps I should take vocal lessons.

The first things people usually notice about me

Well, it used to be my wacky hairstyles (I rocked a pink mohawk for awhile!). Sadly, my hair is very ordinary at the moment. I'm really not sure what people notice first right now. Most likely my cheesy jokes!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I like plenty of them, but I've always had a thing for fantasy novels like Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, etc. I've read quite a few books though, as long as it's got an intriguing plot I can get into it. If it doesn't have much of a plot, it's gotta have comedy.

Movies: Not really sure where to start here. I like a lot of different movies. I have trouble picking favourites.

Music: I'm not even going to attempt to name all the bands I like. There's just too many. A very, very short list would be something like: Story of the Year, Breaking Benjamin, Theory of a Deadman, Paramore, Kincaide, Evergreen Terrace, Jimmy Eat World.

Food: Um. I like food. Especially chicken and most Chinese food. And pizza... Did I mention chicken? If chickens ever take over the world I'll be the first in line to be publically executed. =/

I absolutely hate mushrooms and liver. Seafood is a toss up. I either don't mind it or I hate it.

The six things I could never do without

1) Music - The world would be too quiet without it.

2) My guitar(s) - I spend a lot of time playing guitar. I'd be pretty lost without em.

3) My friends - Hardly ever a dull time around them. I consider them part of my family.

4) My computer - I use it to keep in touch with people and to record stuff. It's also my tv.

5) Food - I like eating, especially when I'm hungry. Who doesn't like snacking now and then?

6) Laughter. Life would be so dull without it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life, music, writing songs, lots of things.

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching MMA, chatting/hanging with buddies, writing song lyrics or playing guitar lately!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I hate my glasses with a passion. I intend on getting contact lenses or PRK corrective eye surgery because I probably break more pairs of glasses than any other person on this planet. From dodgeballs to guitars to the weather, I swear, everything manages to break my glasses. Plus I miss sunglasses. I never broke a pair of those.

Oh, and I can establish a "psychic connection" with anyone of my choosing if they're willing to learn. There's a trick to it, but I only teach a select few people because it greatly amuses me when people try to figure it out.

You should message me if

You want to get to know me better. That's the whole purpose of this, isn't it?

I enjoy meeting new people and good conversations.
