I prefer comics, movies, and games to the banality of everyday life. I used to play guitar and do bands when I was younger but can't find much time or motivation for it now. I try to follow politics and world events as much as possible, yet recently came to the realization that I should have studied astronomy in college.

Currently managing an office at a public health clinic and attempting to time-travel through each and every work week until something better comes along. I finished school about 4 years ago but have thus far been unable to translate that into anything lucrative or fulfilling. Luckily I have plenty of methods to distract myself.

Using the English language to express myself. Communicating with people on their own terms. Reading huge stacks of comics then instantly forgetting everything that happened in them. Contra. Dr. Mario. Trivial Pursuit. Soul Calibur. I could probably still play guitar if I tried. I play more WoW than anybody probably should 8 years on, and I'm a better tank than the vast majority of the player base I've observed.

Probably either my hair or the wardrobe that would be more appropriate on someone half my age.

I don't really read too many books without pictures. I do read a lot of comics though and I like pretty much anything by Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, Frank Miller, Brian Bendis, Ed Brubaker... you get the idea. I've recently discovered that I am capable of reading long-form prose fiction for entertainment and I'm pretty into George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.

The Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Born Again, Ronin, A Dame to Kill For, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, The Killing Joke, Preacher, Welcome Back, Frank, Transmetropolitan, Planetary, Rising Stars, Sandman, 1602... is it too soon to put The Nightly News on a list like this?

I like mostly sci-fi/effects type pictures, especially stuff from around '78-'91. Also non-boneheaded action movies and dumb comedies.

I like vintage thrash and speed metal, and weird, genre-defying metal like Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, and Mastodon. I've also recently gotten into Finnish folk-metal like Ensiferum and American NWOBHM-revivalist stuff like Holy Grail.
