My self-summary
Hello! Not much here (now with slightly more!) at the moment.

Here's a very vague and general overview of myself: I am not a serious person (this is important). I am very easygoing (and surprised that it's a single non-hyphenated word). There isn't much that bothers me and I don't like to complain.

Here are some things I like: Bicycling(road, not mountain), Hockey, Reading (mostly fantasy/Sci-Fi), Games (both board and video), bad movies (good movies too, I suppose). Plus other stuff. Better add parentheses. I'm clearly into those (obviously).
What I’m doing with my life
Taking a break from academia. Working and saving up a bit. I'm also picking up some activities I've been meaning to do for years; long distance cycling and playing in an ice hockey league are at the top of that list.
I’m really good at
wondering if I ought to capitalize wondering at the start there even though I am completing a sentence.
As for a real answer I'd say being personable. People tend to like me in spite of my better judgement. I blame my winning smile and bad habit of listening more than I talk due to a deep-seated belief that others have more interesting things to say than I.

I also love making birthday cards for people and believe that they are excellent.
The first things people usually notice about me
I gather that most people think rather highly of my smile. Aside from that I don't have much feedback.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors are easier to list than books, so: Robin Hobb, Brandon Sanderson, P. G. Wodehouse, Brent Weeks, Joe Abercrombie, and Douglas Adams. I am ashamed that I misspelled a name in there previously.

Movies: Army of Darkness and The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. I like plenty of others, but I cannot emphasize those two enough.

Shows: Doctor Who, Top Gear, Star Trek (take your pick), Archer, Futurama, and Breaking Bad. Others as well, but an exhaustive list seems exhausting.

Music: Man Man and They Might Be Giants. Also Dan Deacon, Joanna Newsom, Battles, Gustav Holst and lots of other stuff. I think those yield a reasonable idea of my preferences.

Food: I am distinctly not picky and like most food. I am, however, quite partial to sushi and Thai.
The six things I could never do without
My bikes, a computer, and things to read. You can choose whatever combination of bikes and things to read that make up the five non-computer spaces. Whatever you think is better is definitely what I intended. Honest.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I should/want to do today and how much overlap there will between the two.
On a typical Friday night I am
Having just finished a (very) scientific study on this very question, I can say without any doubt that my post-work Friday includes (but is not limited to) the following activities: A bike ride, getting a beer with a friend, constructing dinner, board games, and watching a movie.

I have finished my study and discovered that the following activities are also possibilities: Ice skating, looking at stars (with a telescope!), playing videogames with distant friends over the interwebs, watching hockey, and reading.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I haven't got a clue what to put here. So I'll use the space to say that I think my profile should have a changelog, because I fear that in a few weeks all of my sections are going to be unintelligible, meandering messes of half thoughts and parenthesis.
(My fear has proved to be rather unfounded, as I quickly became lazy about updating my profile. I am surprised, as I am sure that you are as well.)
You should message me if
You don't mind my horrid abuse, of, those poor commas.
You probably should if you're looking for someone to go on bike rides with, someone with which to boardgame, or if you just found something interesting in here. Also, if you don't believe that males of the species should be in charge of first contact.
