My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I find the humor in everything, work hard, am generous with my friends and family, and not afraid to try new things. I am from New Jersey, lived in the Austin area for 6 years, went back home for school, and then returned to Austin. I excelled in my program, got to spend a year with National Geographic in DC during that time, worked in New York. My work is what unexpectedly brought me back to Texas.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm doing exactly what I want to do. I am a geographic information scientist, which means that I work with maps all day. It is a low pressure situation that allows me to be creative and pursue the projects that interest me.

With my career secure, my free time is spent with outdoor activities such as running, cycling and climbing. I also spend lots of time writing. If no one else reads it that is fine with me. I just enjoy putting stories together.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I often see things in ways that no one else does. I think clearly under pressure. My kitchen skills, in particularly scheduling what steps have to be done in what order so that everything comes out on time are good. My endurance and patience in all regards is strong point as well.

I am also good at making a fool of myself in public. In fact, for my sister's wedding I rehearsed and performed Napoleon Dynamite's dance at the finale of the movie, and can still recall each move. The crowd went wild.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The stuntman wearing the same outfit as me who makes a stunning and often dangerous entrance. Then I show up with the dialogue and the awesome never stops.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Many, Catch 22, Shakespeare, Chaucer, Industrial Society and Its Future. I read quite a bit of non fiction like Daniel C. Dennett, Stephen Pinker, Voltaire, Germaine Greer, and anything to do with mapping

Music/movie: Talking Heads ,"Live in Rome" (1980). It is unbelievable. I enjoy lots of music, but this is the best example of music that moves me. One of my favorite movies is "Once upon a Time in the West".

Food: I try to have something new on the menu as often as possible, and preferably seafood. I am always searching for new food experiences. With any relationship, you spend nearly as much time eating together as anything else, so trying new things and enjoying food is important.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Curiosity, laughter, a challenge, good company. The rest is gravy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The show "Ancient Aliens" has failed to take advantage of a marketing gold mine. There is technology that makes it possible for a mug to change its image when you add a hot liquid. It would seem a no-brainer to make mugs centered around this show. Normally it is just a normal mug with an image of the pyramids, but when you fill it with your favorite hot drink the aliens who helped build the pyramids are revealed.

I've seen my father get engrossed in the show and he is terribly difficult to shop for. I want to get him this as a gift but sadly it does not exist. Or does it?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'll tell you what I did my first Friday back in Austin after four years away. I went to the Alamo Drafthouse for the 80s sing-a-long. It was a blast. I sang and danced and was a total goof with the glow sticks they handed out.

On the ride home, I had a good laugh thinking about how half the songs had a theme where the male singers thought the women they encountered were too sexually aggressive. They preferred slower relationships where the women would be more chaste and be more considerate of their feelings. Meanwhile the female protagonists couldn't get things on fast enough. The eighties were weird.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The day before my first day of first grade, I was at the beach trying to fish in the surf for the first time. It was windy and I accidentally hooked myself in the ass.
