My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Burner. Geek. Revolutionary. Alive!

I crave all things new and unusual and love saying "yes!"

I love to learn, make people laugh, and doing things that make everyone around/involved "feel alive". People's stories intrigue and invigorate me. I enjoy most humor, from puns to slapstick, and the ironic to the absurd.

I'm an empathetic nerd, animated speaker, mindful listener, earnestly passionate, pragmatic idealist, lazy workaholic, budding hedonist, optimistic nihilist, a bit of a logophile and usually brutally honest.

A few years ago I stopped having any qualms about making a fool of myself; it's wonderfully liberatingly joyful.

I find normalcy vastly overrated; I'm a pansexual queer -- meaning I don't particularly care what your bits are, and I don't let mine drive me -- and a novice kinkster.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Changing the world; making computers do stuff. Improvising, both on-stage and off. Shedding a lot of weight accumulated over the years (recently unlocked the famously touted endorphin rush!). Also butchering quotes and idioms, but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

In the recent past, I toppled a dictator, moved across the world, and now spend quite a bit of time exploring the idiosyncrasies of American/Californian life, a lot of which happens on Fridays and Saturdays.

This seems befitting/descriptive of my life right now: "He attacked everything in life with a mix of extraordinary genius and naive incompetence, and it was often difficult to tell which was which." - Douglas Adams
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Not panicking.
Thumb war -- haven't lost since I moved to the area!
L'esprit d'escalier.
Grokking technology.
Entertaining myself.
Citing my sources.
Finding where we parked.
Air hockey.
Making silly sounds/voices.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair - it's usually brightly coloured. Just dyed my beard pink!
My height, although I'm not *that* large.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: anything by Douglas Adams (especially The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 'trilogy', Dirk Gently's Wholistic Detective Agency). Harry Potter. The couple of books I've read by Neil Gaiman (he's on top of my to-read list). The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. Animal Farm by George Orwell (I am yet to get around to 1984). Melancholia by Basil Fateen.

Shows/Series: Suits, Heroes, Once Upon A Time. This list is fairly stale since I stopped watching TV (one of the best decisions anyone can make, BTW), although it's still way too easy to hook me in front of a TV. I also love a lot of TED talks.

Movies: Mad Max, Kung Fu Panda, Wreck-it Ralph, The Life of Brian, Paul, Red, Law Abiding Citizen, Fight Club, movies by Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, et al), V For Vendetta, The Matrix.

Music: Mostly rock-ish, including (in no particular order): Queen, Muse, Explosions in the Sky, Parov Stelar, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Tenacious D, The Blues Brothers, Barenaked Ladies. Also, Daft Punk, for making a movie out of an album (Interstella 5555, with those smurf-coloured people you've been wondering about).

Food: Almost anything, but not a lot of seafood. All-time favourite: Koshary!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
* Laughter
* Stories
* Sunshine
* Puns
* Music
* Alternatives to pants
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Science, technology and their effects on society; truth and perspectives; the precarious balance between being exceedingly vague and overly verbose; what puns can be made about the topics at hand; 'vibes' people feel about other people; what people read into profiles that list casual sex; whether things like stairs are an invention or discovery; why there are so many varieties of Mexican food wrapped in baked stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out and about:
- Karaoke-ing
- Doing improv
- Dancing/jamming at a burner gathering
- Camping
- Or anything, really; whatever sounds fun. Probably making a fool of myself somewhere; generally sharing some joie de vivre.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I still pronounce Deadmau5 as dead-maw-five.
