How would I describe myself? I'd likely start with intelligent...I have two Masters degrees...I think of myself as uber dependable...I loathe letting down my friends or backing out of a commitment...I am thoughtful...I often squirrel away Christmas presents months in advance if I can find the perfect thing...I am always on time but am mostly happy to play with my phone if people are reasonably late...I am non-religious and consider myself an atheist...I am happy for you to care about that sort of thing, but it's not my proverbial cup of tea...I am physically affectionate....I tend to like women who cuddle and want to hold hands...I am independent...I have traveled solo a number of times and am happy spending an evening by myself...I am a relationship type...I really would like to get married and have no commitment issues...I tend to drink excellent wine or scotch...I collect art and signed literary novels but also have a geeky side and see pretty much all the Marvel movies opening weekend...I am big on empathy and respect and have a chivalrous streak.
What am I looking for? Somebody who is classy, nice, dependable, cute, friendly and empathetic. Ideally in Toronto proper and looking to meet somebody to have a real relationship with.
What I’m doing with my life
Planning my career...Attending all the fun festivals in the city ... I run a book club that occasionally hosts authors and such (I started it in 2009)
I’m really good at
Planning trips and organizing things. Being creative when
The first things people usually notice about me
Sense of humor mostly ... Which is now where I am supposed to make
some super witty joke that will make you believe I have a sense of
humor ... however, I am not going to do that ... that's right "old
buck convention Alex" they call me ... never makes the joke you
expect him to.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In order to make this recent, this is just the best of what I've enjoyed in 2014/15
Andrew Kaufman: All My Friends are Superheroes
Patrick Ness: A Monster Calls
HW Brands: The Man Who Saved the Union
Andre Agassi: Open
Game of Thrones
I have wide tastes, my itunes library is pretty eclectic. I tend to listen to music at the gym or on transit or when cleaning.
The six things I could never do without
At the end of the day "stuff" is just "stuff". People are what really matter. I certainly have my share of possessions that I love but if the apartment was on fire, I'd grab Molly (my cat) and then the sentimental stuff.
In a less serious vein...I have an unnatural affection for diet pepsi...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What the next cool event in the city is and who to go with...where
life is going...I don't know...stuff...does "stuff" count?
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no typical...it depends on the season and what's
happening...it often seems to be a movie/dinner night with
friends...in the summer it seems to be more festivals...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've met the real Kermit the Frog and getting to shake his hand was unspeakably cool...my picture with Animal sitting on my shoulders (which I am forbidden to share online) is my favorite photo ever....I've seen Book of Mormon four times...oh, and I cried when my furry cat roomie Taiko passed away :(
You should message me if
If a different kind of guy appeals to you...if you are interested
in meeting somebody with the creativity, drive, ambition and sense
of fun...if you want a guy who knows what he wants and is ready to
meet the right woman.
