world wonderer. world wanderer. i live in madagacar but work for the us government so wrote dc as my home. although i haven't lived there in many years, i consider myself a new yorker through and through.

i love traveling, playing games (card and board), watching tv and movies, and playing tennis. the only magazine i subscribe to is wired.

i love my job and see myself doing it until retirement. though it's perfect for me, the job requires that i move every 2 or 3 years - which makes dating difficult.

i carry a black passport.

games. i love all kinds. if you know how to play the german card game skat, total bonus points.

getting completely and hopelessly lost. i have the worst sense of direction (except when i'm traveling in a city i've never been to before. then some sort of primal survival instinct kicks in and i'm fine).

googling.

i love infinite jest, beloved, east of eden, even cowgirls get the blues and the little prince.

it's difficult for me to name my favorite movies and there isn't necessarily a genre i prefer. i adore eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and i've been known to rewatch the same guilty pleasure ones over and over (dirty dancing, overboard, love actually, etc.).

nearly all my favorite tv shows are no longer on the air - arrested development, the shield, west wing, the wire, battlestar galactica, buffy the vampire slayer and scrubs. but i also enjoy the office, 30 rock, lost, breaking bad and others.

my musical tastes are pretty eclectic as well. the most played artists according to itunes at the moment are the decemberists, neko case, gillian welch, fleet foxes, arcade fire, rainer maria, pj harvey and patti smith.

i love nearly all kinds of food but in madagascar the ones i miss most are sushi, ethiopian, thai, lebanese, real new york pizza, and deli.

my stuffed animal moose, electronics (tv, computer, ipod, etc.), passport, water, family, and memories.

my next trip.

going out to dinner with friends. i'm not into the club scene and although i enjoy hanging out in quiet bars, there aren't many of those where i'm currently living.

- i still play snood daily
- when i live in america i eat bagels and eggs for dinner every thursday night
- train is my preferred method of travel
- i've visited 37 countries (and lived in 6)
- i really like the outdoors and hiking but i have bum knees so i can't do it as much as i'd like
- i really like wearing hats (as evidenced by my photos)
- i go to sleep listening to npr podcasts
