My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hmm. I'm loud, fairly laid-back, open to all sorts of experimentation, and quite the repository of useless information.

I'm a large fellow, part of which I'm blaming on multiple soul-sucking years in desk jobs at odd hours. Trying to turn that around now with a lot of walking and whatever other physical activities people invite me for. Only semi-coordinated, so hopefully people can put up with some awkwardness at the start.

I've been repeatedly burned by people and have mostly given up on being subtle about things. Expect me to be direct and honest even where it might cost me. I'm trying not to hurt people in this effort, but sometimes you just never know how someone will respond.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm in a period of flux. Finally getting comfortable with me, and deciding I don't really want to keep doing the same work I've been doing. Trying to switch fields and also exploring going into post-secondary. It's going to be an interesting time, I'm sure.

Aside from that I also am involved with the Winnipeg Hackerspace SkullSpace and pondering projects to put together and show off there.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking and baking. For as long as I can remember I've enjoyed preparing food. Doesn't have to be any particular type, just make it sound appealing and give me a recipe and off I go. Or forget about the recipe. I'm open to just grabbing random ingredients that seem like they'll go well together and throwing together a dish.

I'm also fairly good at troubleshooting computer problems. Hardware, software, *nix or Windows, network issues... Throw it at me and I'll try whatever I know if applicable, or I bust out the research.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a big guy. I mean, yeah the height listed on here alone would indicate that but I've got large hands and feet, broad shoulders, and occasionally big hair :P

I've been told I come off as a teddy bear. I'm large and plush, and I smile a lot. I'm also loud. I can be a bit rude or offensive, but I try not to do it deliberately until I know the person.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favourite books: Anything by Neal Stephenson or Warren Ellis.

Movies: Pulp Fiction. Admittedly I haven't seen many movies, so my sample is skewed. I've been told that Ghostbusters is amazing.

Shows: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Code Geass, Doctor Who, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, Babylon 5.

Music: More fond of instrumentals than vocals and I have a large swath of pieces of music I enjoy.

Food: Anything from Boon Burger, the Twister or Southern Fried Tofu in general from Mondragon, and vegan curry with rice.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Let's see, six things I couldn't do without:

1) The Internet. Information, entertainment, communication. It has it all!
2) Books. If you're just looking for entertainment, bored and trying to pass the time, or trying to learn something new, few things match up to a good book. Yes, even comic books count.
3) Friends. Been through some rough spots and my friends have always been there to pick me up.
4) Quiet spaces. Sometimes you just want to go somewhere with nobody else around and think. ...Or browse the Internet on your phone :P
5) Cool nights. And sometimes you want to do your thinking while you walk for an hour or two.
6) Legs. Fun to admire a good pair of legs, and without these I couldn't walk! I mean, sure, prosthetics are coming along but that satisfying burn you get after a good walk is tough to beat.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Cooking, politics, law, and random flights of fancy.

Sometimes as I wander a recipe will pop into my head and I'll have to prepare it sometime soon.

Politics and law tend to be high on my list of concerns as I see too often that policy is being driven by generations that aren't going to be dealing with the fallout of their actions.

Other times I just can't be arsed to think of anything other than how cool it'd be to fly around and save the day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Lately I'd be playing D&D or preparing food to bring down to the space for whatever madness is going on the next day. On the odd occasion that neither of those things is on the agenda I'd be reading or out walking.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I cry in public sometimes.

If you can tolerate hearing whatever random crap happens to pop into my head when I feel like sending it out to people, by all means, get in touch. Say whatever is on your mind and expect I'll do the same. I rarely plan anything that is not regularly occurring in my life, so I'm always up for being dragged off by people into whatever activity they have in mind.
