My self-summary
My best friend is a certified sexologist (yep, it's a thing), and while I created this profile originally to seek out positive sexual experiences, I realized pretty quickly that that's no longer where I am. I am looking for friendships, relationships, conversation partners, friends with potential benefits....
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in a UA MFA (writing). Teaching English at the UA, too (I base my classes primarily in science writing and argumentation, so I teach a lot of pre-meds).
I’m really good at
knowing about a variety of things. I took Carl Sagan's advice to heart and didn't specialize. Before I came to UA, I snuck in with grant money and taught math, the sciences, and English at a community college (an incredible environment, incidentally). I keep abreast of science news, politics and world news, art, goings on in the digital world, etc etc. I love to write, but I love equally biology, chemistry, astronomy, math....

I'm a pretty good cook, too, and I enjoy cooking for others.
The first things people usually notice about me
My bag. Plus, "why is he carrying extra books?"
My nose. Italian heritage, what can I say?
Vests. I only wear a vest maybe once a week but folks tend to associate 'em with me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food? Not picky. The only things I really don't like are the things that, as an Italian, I should: raw tomatoes, polenta, olives.
I try to make everything at least once, but I've never made sushi or wine. I'd like to try.

I can be into movies, but I haven't seen once since July, so they're not a huge part of my life. TV? Again, haven't watched anything for a while, but I was raised by Trekkies and as a result I love the 90s space operas, Deep Space 9 and Babylon 5 especially.

Music -- generally easier to name what I don't like: country, top 40. Please, no Lady Gaga or any of those derivative folks. If I need background music, it tends to be rock. I listen to classical when I read before bed. Right now, and for the last year or so, my favorite album has been Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs." My brothers (two, both younger) call me a hipster, but to me, that label implies a desire to exclude, and I'd much rather play music for folks and learn about new bands than I would be alone in what I like.

I'm both voracious and picky about books-- you know, I'm a writer. Impress me with your taste. :)
The six things I could never do without
The number concept in order to count to six. Everything else is negotiable.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the projects upon which I'm working.
how best to teach my students, and why I'm doing so.
the future.
spearmint gum.
On a typical Friday night I am
Ah, typical isn't. I might be at a reading -- or having a drink or two (I'm not a big drinker, though -- a glass of wine or a couple of beers) -- playing board games with some friends -- or working on yet another project.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've had sex on the hilltop in front of my favorite former professor's office window at midnight.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like guys
  • Ages 21–34
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, long-distance penpals, casual sex
You should message me if
...you're scientifically literate, but you also appreciate the arts.
...you've read at least one book in the last six months.
...you can carry on a conversation with a minimum of pop culture references and similar evasions and speak with some depth.
...you don't routinely describe yourself as bored or expect me to entertain you or fill in for your failure of imagination.
..."I like nerdy guys" is NOT synonymous with "I like male models wearing thick glasses."
...you could carry on a meaningful conversation during sexual exploration. Seriously, great conversations.
...you might, maybe, want to have sex in out-of-the-way places...
...if you think you'd pleasantly surprise me. Despite all the initial disclaimers, I'd be open to new friendships or some fun dates; however, this profile aims to be honest!
...your sentences use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. (I'm serious.)

On the other hand, if your profile uses cliches like "live life to the fullest" or "loves real people, hates fake people," we will not agree on much that's worth any depth.

If you do message me, tell me what you're about. We'll take it from there.
