My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm one of the many Midwest transplants to the golden state (yep, sorry golden state, no caps, this farmer sends his apologies). Work wise, I'm a self motivated and self employed interpreter (French, Spanish, German, English.. not kidding about the languages) loving the ability to both help people very concretely, and delve in to a different challenging and abstract concept at every technical conference. Life is good :) Most of all, it all allows a chap to meet lots of interesting people, and plenty of freedom to carve personal side projects into the schedule...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
international philanthropy
sustainable development
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
see below...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Wisconsinites are trained to brag only when in close and trusted company...and then to claim they never brag :)

Photos, of course, never count as bragging!

And therefore... I'm letting my fellow trusted Wisconsinite (note ironic capitalization in context with intro paragraph) take the keys...

"his friendly and boisterous personality. And is a cutie to boot."

I promise I didn't write that!

... draw lines of best fit between:

vaunted heroes of the middle class: Cormac McCarthy (not obscure, but solid writing if a bit gruesome), Henry Miller (hey, he tells it like it Irish is, 'specially for all that German blood), countless semi-nameless historians, Salinger, His Clanciness, Neutral Milk Hotel, Great Thunder, Beach House, the XX, the Cohen Bros. canon, Wes Anderson's work, Herzog, Greneway, Sergio Leone, ... and I once saw Point Break live on stage and it was priceless...

daunting geniuses of the lower class: Buddy Rich (no, he's really does belong here, folks), Mississippi John Hurt, Van Morrission, Nas, Emmy Lou Harris, bluegrass and cajun musicians aplenty, Mark Twain,

other: Bach (bbg concerto especially... makes it seem like slowly sinking into a foggy peat bog would be just fine, actually) Mozart (Requiem and cello suite, especially), Beethoven (the raw power mixed with elation is very nice), Chopin (refined, cartesian, like a horse on dressage), Ton, Steine Scherben, Os Mutantes, Rilke, Leopold, Muir, American frontier -based children's stories translated into French, much russian constructivist 60s cinema, guerria docu work aplenty... straight documentaries aplenty...yadda, yadda, yadda.

I'm probably more likely to respond to your list than you mine, and I'm simply not going to put a bunch of obscure stuff on here to seem fancy. Media are great, but people are greater.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
hikes to hot springs?
bicycles, and others to ride them with
my car (though I almost never use it unless leaving the city and will hopefully part with it soon, and will celebrate the day)
forming new and successful teams to do good in this world
occam's razor
fun fun fun fun fun fun fun (seven for good measure)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how lucky I am to have running water. no joke.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
out with you? No, not you, yes you there, you!

you be fo reauh... as in you'd also be happy to meet someone who looks like they do in their profile pics... or better? (the mirror selfie is a new experiment...) (I made sure to put up mostly very recent pics) I'm not too hot on steamy epistular back and forths lasting for eternity here. Yes, OKC is charming (much like the romantic hand of destiny itself, really, isn't it?), but.... Scout's honor, we might accidentally enjoy ourselves when meeting up... oh, and double Scout's honor, I'm not just looking to skip the 'you' exit on the fast track to getting laid. That said, life cannot and should not be planned completely either, eh? :) Still, though, if it were just about easy sex, I'd put the most flattering photos possible on this profile, and play a strict numbers game... and if you meet me, you'll see that I'd rather undersell than oversell with the photos... even though it's always good to show a bit of what you look like, no?

Oh, and bonus points if you know and or like this
