Like Homer, I drool over donuts while neglecting my duties at the nuclear reactor. But unlike our favorite Einstein incarnate, I excel at supporting others. I regularly share job (and romantic) opportunities with friends, and enthusiastically edit cover letters and grant proposals when asked. One friend, long single, married a woman to whom I purposely introduced her. When a friend's life stagnates, I encourage forward momentum. I want see people thrive, stretch their potential, and fulfill their mission in life.
I have an innate ability to form connections with people from different cultures, something that has opened many opportunities and defined my life. I have family – biological and honorary – all over the country and world. I have good friends who live in bamboo huts in jungle villages, drinking water from springs, and other good friends who live in comparative mansions, drinking water from bottles. Who's richer?
I've been humbled by many magical experiences I've had traveling the globe, including:
- beholding a manta ray swim beneath me in the Indian Ocean.
- being moved to tears in Angkor Wat upon hearing the music played by men who lost limbs to US landmines.
- being 'adopted' by a Zapotec woman in Oaxaca when my mother was very ill.
I open doors for other people. I revere elders. I write letters by hand. Was I born two centuries tardy?
I'm looking for a partner who is confident, kind, compassionate, curious, and on a clear trajectory in her life. Oh, and someone who almost always alliterates. If you know a a dirty joke or two, you got a triple word score.
