My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
In college, my best friend asked me my mission in life. I said, "to give life to beauty." I'd like to think I do that, especially in my writing, although keep in mind that my aesthetic is equal parts Pablo Neruda and Beavis and Butthead.

In the spitting image of Messrs. B & B, I excel at supporting others. I regularly share job (and romantic) opportunities with friends, and enthusiastically edit cover letters and grant proposals when asked. One friend, long single, married a woman to whom I purposely introduced her. I like to see people thrive and fulfill their mission in life.

My innate ability to connect with people from different cultures has opened many opportunities and defined my life. I have family – biological and honorary – all over the country and world. I have good friends who live in bamboo huts in jungle villages, drinking water from springs, and other good friends who live in comparative mansions, drinking water from bottles. Who's richer?

I've been humbled by many experiences while traveling, including:
- beholding a manta ray glide beneath me in the Indian Ocean.
- being moved to tears in Angkor Wat upon hearing music played by men who lost limbs to US landmines.
- being 'adopted' by a Zapotec woman in Oaxaca when my mother was very ill.

I open doors for other people. I revere elders. I write letters by hand. I greet strangers on the street. Was I born two centuries tardy?

I'm looking for a woman who will bring out my best and inspire me to grow. A fitness/meditation/travel partner would be awesome. My ideal relationship is abundant in respect, friendship, admiration, honesty, care, fascination, flirtation, passion, romance, hilarity, and trust. I am attracted to confidence, curiosity, compassion, critical thinking, boldness, ambition, accomplishment, directness, and sass. A love of the outdoors is essential. Extra points if you've a black belt.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My day job is writing for theatre, film and tv. But I *really* want to be a receptionist.

Joking aside, I'm very fortunate to support myself by writing. It allows me to explore endless worlds -- the Texas-Mexico border, Neverland, Donald Rumsfeld's vacation home. I'm grateful for my work.

Also, taking my life and career to new heights, and depths. This is sometimes demanding. And I'm cultivating active gratitude, acceptance, and awareness. And an arsenal of dirty jokes.

Note: For those frightened by societally-induced preconceptions about writers, know that I have opted for no debt in favor of a retirement account.

Gabriel García Márquez inspired me to write my first novel. I think I'm going to title it 'One Hundred Years of Solitude.'

I loved watching Zombieland in rural Guatemala. I also love films by David Lynch, Werner Herzog, Kim-Ki Duk and Chan-wook Park. If Herzog remade Zombieland, I might have to found a religion around it.
