My self-summary
4-12-13
A freshening is in order here; after all, spring is in the air. ***********

Hello and thank you for stopping by. I am Paul and live in the Greenwood neighborhood of North Seattle. I am a dedicated father to my amazing 14 year old daughter. A scientist by profession; I work for a state agency and enjoy what I do.

A native of the SF Bay Area, I came to the Northwest in 1979. I was drawn here by love, and stayed for all the natural beauty.
From the mountains to the sea, I love it all.

When young, my friends and I attended many great shows at venues such as the Fillmore West, Avalon Ballroom and Winterland. I was once a FM DJ - mass comm major in the mid-70s to early 80s, before changing directions. I am skilled in radio technical arts and have a passion for live music performances. My tastes run the gamut from psychedelic to blues to punk to grunge to bluegrass to ? Eclectic, I am.

Another of my passions is reading, particularly science fiction from luminaries such as Greg Bear, Neal Stephenson, David Brin, old William Gibson, Julie Czernada, Jack McDevitt, Harlan Ellison and a slew of others.

I worked construction during my school days and am handy with hammer, concrete, plumbing, electrical and explosives. I am a skilled machinist and have designed and built many projects over the years. I derive great enjoyment from this. I am the son of a successful mechanical engineer and a Barnard educated English lit major.

I've only been married once (seven years) and have been divorced since 2000. My daughter has had two happy homes growing up. She starts high school next year!

I enjoy roguish, gallows, British and off the wall humor. Laughter in this absurd world is essential for sanity. I hope for shared mirth with a like- minded partner in crime.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
The meaning of life: what really matters, what persists beyond ourselves, is everything just absurdly random? Are dreams the real fruit of our existence? How fate, karma, luck and desire bring people together.

On a typical Friday evening I am relaxing after a week's work. This might involve going out with a fiend, reading a great book, or heading off for an event of some kind.
