My self-summary Propose an edit
"The first thing I want to ask you is why are you here? You look so
normal. Are you sure you're not married?"
That's the question. I'm here because I'm not what I look like. My
life didn't play itself out on schedule with the college sweetheart
I met at orientation and married at graduation.
I like the things you like. Good food, traveling, people,
conversation. But that tells you nothing about me. Hopefully it
tells you nothing about anyone. The real me, the one that wants to
get to know you and wants to be known by you isn't who's classily
nibbling on expensive food. He's at the Dead Sea in Jordan wishing
the sunset over Israel would linger a bit longer.
I run a struggling computer business by day, and I wish its
success, should it come, would satisfy me. I wonder if I should've
been born a hundred years from now to enact some skill that isn't
known yet, like a mathematician born in the Stone Age.
I take my worldview way too seriously for someone from the me
generation. I have a vision of what I want the world to be and how
it can get there.
