My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My top three influences are Glenn Greenwald, Gabrielle Giffords, and Blackbeard the Pirate.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a mercenary at law. That's a funny way of saying I'm a private criminal defense attorney. I own and run my own firm.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening, making curry, making out, karaoke, eavesdropping in restaurants.

A good date may involve all of the above.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Great hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I pretend that I read more than I do. Some favorite books: The Tin Drum, Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, Dune, Cryptonomicon, Neuromancer, The Sportswriter, Independence Day, Wonder Boys, Pale Fire, and Freedom. I rarely read books more than once.

I like movies and TV shows about crime and the mob: Godfather Goodfellas, Serpico, Breaking Bad, Justified, and Hannibal. The Wire, too (audible eye roll). I like Westerns, too: The Ballad of Cable Hogue, Once Upon a Time in the West. and Inglourious Basterds (yes, it's a Western). Starship Troopers is only slightly less brilliant than Robocop. Time Bandits and Gates of Heaven make me ecstatic every time I watch them. I love movies about food: Big Night, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover, and Ratatouille. Five Easy Pieces is my favorite movie ever.

Music-wise, I love bleeps and bloops, exquisitely-crafted pop, whiplash-inducing hooks, and big beats. I like silky chaunteuses like Ambrosia Parsley and Edith Piaf, bubbly pop vocalists like Gwen Stefani and Kylie Minogue, and electropop divas like Tracy Thorn, Goldfrapp, Martina Topley-Bird, and Ladytron. If you like Prince, chances are we'll have something to talk about. Recently I've been digging Iggy Azalea and Ke$ha.

As for food, I like soups, stews and sauces. Richness and decadence. Fish of all kinds. Anything with jalapenos. Mustard. Vermont Curry. Anything I haven't tried before.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family, a pen, inspiration, music, spice, carrots.

Ask me about why I never leave the house without a pen. It's a good story.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Work. Sex. People. Nanomachines.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Karaoke-ing, carousing, playing video games, sleeping, or possibly working.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm silently snickering at you for failing to list something private about your self in this space.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You are taller than me. Don't be self-conscious about it. Tall women are hot.

You draw both inspiration and frustration from our flawed world.

You like reading the Modern Love column in the Sunday New York Times.

You love Tucson. At a minimum, you aren't complaining every other second about how much you hate it, how much more you like Seattle or San Francisco or New York or Portland or Austin, and how you just can't wait to move out of here.

I work constantly. So if I don't message you back within a day or two, hang in there.
