My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm good with words but not in this place.
You judging my profile by the look of my face?
Seeking friends, that's what we all say,
Someone to travel with, share life with,
....Well maybe one day.

I found my work-life balance--Try this, you must.
Mine was under the couch just gathering dust.
I swept it up, packed my things, was on my way.
Then learned how to live, how to love, how to play.

Yeah, nothing is ever that simple now, is it?
Married for 20 years, then we split.
Experienced a whole new life on my own,
Rich, raw, and deep, ---down to the bone.
A close connection with my two offspring,
I’m active, fit and healthy, and I’ll try anything.

I could tell you I love travelling,
But then who the hell doesn’t?
Just don’t ask me to cruise on a ship
--Nothing about that seems pleasant.
I’ll take an adventure, a beach, a hike,
And I’ll bring my skis, my humour, my bike.

Cooking together, now that’s a riot.
If you’ve never done it, I urge you to try it.
A few sips of wine as you prep the meal,
Give it a shot, see how you feel.
Food is a microcosm of our planet,
Rich, diverse, a wide river and a bridge to span it.

So, anyway, I could go on and on,
But I’m guessing by now you’re long gone.
On the other hand, if you’ve made it this far,
Maybe you’ll let me see who you are?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Combining travel with opportunities to see art, music, history. Enjoy design, architecture, style and art....mid-century, contemporary, impressionist, modern....

I do a little painting myself....and big paintings, too.

Staying active---cycling, running, skiing, hiking, gym. Scuba sometimes.

Seeking out new music, new food, new friends.

Making sure both sides of my brain are in use.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Evolving. Letting life flow. Enjoying life's flow. Maintaining balance. Compromise.

Being a dad to my two grown kids.

My job, which lets me be both technical and creative. I work for a well-known media company.

Words With Friends, Scrabble, NY Times Sunday crossword.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My accent. I lived in the US for 25 years, but I still have to remind people that is they, not I, that have an accent. English is my native tongue, but I speak one other language, and a bit of a third one.... I was born and raised in South Africa, but I'm living in London now.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Prefer foreign or off-beat movies. Jarmusch, Fassbinder, Passolini, Fellini, Coen brothers...... Read fiction and non. Travel writing, The NY Times, The Economist. Biographies of artists and musicians, history of cinema. Reading Jim Harrison at the moment. Anything to stretch the mind.

Like live music. Rock, bluegrass, blues, jazz, some country, classical. Currently into Tom Waits, Andrew Bird, White Stripes.....but also reliving The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix..... Love to explore the deep, sultry, mood-inducing, edgy side of music. Marvel at the creativity.

Spicy food, ethnic food, sushi. All food! Unusual food. Eat well and eat healthy. I like matching wine to food.

Dark, rich beer. Single malt whiskey. Wine!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The hypnotic effect of music
Hot peppers
TripAdvisor
Never met a cheese I didn't like
iPhone, sadly
The New York Times
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The creative mind of artists, jealously.

The state of the world. The economy. Our ridiculous political landscape. The imbalance of wealth.

Future technology, future business. Future medicine. What the world will be like for the next generation.

Plans for my next trip. Yeah, just like all the rest of us... But, really, I do.

What to eat for dinner....
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...having dinner with a friend, or listening to live music, a movie..... Or, oh yeah, doing laundry.
