Music's pretty much where it begins and ends. I'm partial to
tangible, physical things, so the bedroom has been pretty much
stuffed to the hilt with CDs, LPs and the like for years. I've been
slowly selling off my collection on Amazon and eBay but I'll always
cling desperately to LPs from Mission of Burma, the Verlaines, the
Jam and the Replacements...
There's plenty of new stuff out there that I adore but if I'm being
honest, I spend most of my time digging through catalogs. That
being said, the records from the last couple of years that I've
been spinning the most:
David Comes to Life - Fucked Up
Bang Goes the Knighthood - The Divine Comedy
Epic - Sharon Van Etten
Middle Cyclone - Neko Case
Sweet Heart Sweet Light - Spiritualized
Private Lives - Noel Coward
Travels in Siberia - Ian Frazier
Sea of Poppies - Amitav Ghosh
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead - Tom Stoppard
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay - Michael
I'll admit that I watch TV. Dr. Who, Arrested Development, Mr.
Show, Father Ted, Breaking Bad, the Wire, early Simpsons, Star Trek
TNG and any Sherlock Holmes series that stars Jeremy Brett.
Podcasts are pretty swell, too...'Stuff You Missed in History
Class' and 'WTF' sort of soundtrack my workday.
I recently went pescetarian after nine years spent as vegetarian,
so right now I'm really digging crustaceans. I also make a badass
carrot soup and bruised kale salad.
