My self-summary
Just graduated from Arkansas State University with a masters degree in chemistry. Back in Evansville for now while I continue a search for a job.

I have a lazy but super affectionate tabby cat named Tabby. I am not creative when it comes to names.
What I’m doing with my life
Getting ready to graduate with a masters in chemistry. Currently applying for jobs, leaning strongly toward teaching. Along those lines, I was a TA for a general chemistry lab and really enjoyed it.

I try to improve myself a little every day. Anything from going to the gym more often, teaching myself to cook (still not that great sadly), taking time to relax with a book, or (re)learning Spanish with duolingo.
I’m really good at
I feel like it would be more interesting to list things you are terrible at. I can not for the life of me park in a straight line, despite my best efforts. I have never been able to snap my fingers or burp on command which I fear is a pretty huge character flaw.

I guess I'm good at some things though:

Empathizing with other people. I enjoy finding out how people tick, and being able to put yourself in another's shoes removes a lot of unnecessary stress.

Playing the saxophone. I was in the marching band in high school! I'm sure you're jealous.

Logic puzzles (sudoku for example). It's fun coming up with new ways of solving them. For that matter, any sort of puzzle that requires you to figure out your own rules.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently I smile a lot without realizing it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Pretty much anything with a powerful melody, from classical to rock to electronic. Some favorites: Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Dragonforce, Avenged Sevenfold, Ellie Goulding.

Books: For fiction, I prefer sci-fi/fantasy, for example Ender's Game, A Song of Ice and Fire series, Prince of Nothing series, Kingkiller Chronicle series, Anathem. I read a lot on nonfiction as well, from biographies to psychology; anything that looks interesting.

Movies: I am easily entertained; I can find even terrible movies enjoyable.

TV shows: Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, the Daily Show, Archer, Futurama, Scrubs, The League, Always Sunny

Food: I'll eat almost anything, but I'll tend toward things that are reasonably spicy if given the choice.
The six things I could never do without
1) A sense of humor
2) Dark chocolate m&m's
3) Something to achieve
4) Shoe inserts for my flat feet
5) Hot chocolate in the winter
6) A decent internet connection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Big idealistic impossible things, like how to fix everything wrong in the world, or what I'm having for lunch tomorrow.

On a serious note, I think a lot about how to improve the state of education. I'm a huge fan of The Khan Academy, and hope I can find a way to make a difference in the system myself.
On a typical Friday night I am
With friends in some fashion, or just relaxing. As an introvert, I don't really enjoy going to bars or other places with a lot of people, I'd rather unwind on my own or with a few people I know.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Even though I know they are designed to appeal to the lowest denominator, I will sing along in the car to a catchy pop tune.
