I am open-minded, free-spirited, and dancing.
My Self-Summary
My name is Destiny, my username is just something I made out of 2
words I kind of like. I am simple and non judgmental. I love the
outdoors and I love music. I am an anti-oppression activist and a
feminist. I think the purpose of life is to be as happy as you can
be while making others as happy as they can be. I think most of our
lives are socially constructed and we label people and things so
that we can feel more comfortable. When things all of a sudden
don't fit into our neat little categories, it makes us
uncomfortable. I am comfortable with that uncomfortableness now. I
am getting a feminist education that never stops teaching me. I
worked on the Obama campaign for a year and a half. I really hope
he can accomplish what he said he will. I wish I had been born in
the 40s or 50s so I could have been around for that whole hippie
thing. I wish I had been at the first Woodstock. I was raised in
New Orleans but i live in Vegas now. I miss the jazz, soul, and
beauty of New Orleans but Vegas is okay. I try to live my life with
as much peace love and happiness as possible.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a college student at UNLV. I am studying in two areas but only
one matters, Women's Studies. I will graduate with my BA in
December and am currently appyling to PhD programs all over the
country. I am interested in Women's, Gender, Ethnic, and American
studies. I also want to join the Peace Corps. I kind of want to
travel the world with only a backpack. Who knows what I will
actually do. :) We will see.
I’m really good at
having fun, drinking beer, writing papers, waiting tables, reading
books
The first things people usually notice about me

I don't really have a bunch of favorite movies because I don't
watch movies very much but my all time favorite and one I can watch
over and over again is Mrs. Doubtfire.
I tried the vegetarian thing, that didn't work. I like all food so
I should just say what I don't like; liver, canned peas, and beets.
The six things I could never do without
my mom, my sister, music, feminism, friends, and the ganja.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The world, as it is, how it could be, how it should be. The 60s and
70s. The summer. World Peace. My future. Feminist thought and
theory. Our socially constructed ideas of gender, sexuality, race,
class, etc. My neice. Graduating. Ben Harper's music.
On a typical Friday night I am
I guess I don't really have any typical Friday nights. I could be
at the Frog drinking a beer, bowling, at a concert, at an event.
Who knows, maybe even a club some nights, some very rare nights. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I still like Hanson and the Spice Girls.
You should message me if
you're nice, enjoying life, free-spirited, open-minded, and are
into the whole "equal-rights-for- everyone" thing :) and you're
happy and whole as you are and are looking for someone to
compliment you, not complete you.
**if i've looked at your profile and didn't message you, it doesn't
mean i am not interested, it means that i rarely message people
because im unsure of what to say the first go round. :)
