My self-summary
My mom tells me I'm a real catch.

I'm a transplant from the great liberal oasis that is Austin, TX, and as such, I'm partial to say "y'all" and the occasional ironic "howdy".

From Austin I moved to Seattle for a Ph.D. program at UW, studying genetics. I was totally obsessed with it. Partially because I love science and partially because geneticists are, hands down, the dopest people on the planet. Believe it.

Eventually, though, I realized that, mainly for bureaucratic reasons, the whole academia route wasn't for me. I since started my own internet business type thingy. It's pretty slick -- immensely fulfilling, personally meaningful, financially self-sufficient, and supremely independent: I get to work whenever I want, from wherever I want, and on whatever I want.

During one summer in grad school, I interned as a science reporter at the Oregonian through the AAAS. That was pretty neat. If you're into science, you can read some of my articles here:

I'm a slut for fresh linens, seasonal cocktails, and the Oxford comma.
What I’m doing with my life
Pursuing creative programming projects of my own choosing.

Currently, I write programs that create and upload videos to YouTube, mostly of an educational flavor. On top of these videos run ads (I'm sure you've seen them before) and each time someone clicks one, I'm like, one nickel richer.

It's neat because it's more like I'm creating digital capital that generates constant income well after creation as opposed to something that requires perpetual work to maintain. It's a really bizarre niche I found myself in.

While I love programming, it's ultimately motivated by the desire to have the freedom to do whatever I want, whenever I want. My most recent adventure involved learn Muay Thai for a month in Thailand, followed up with slow travel through Chiang Mai, Singapore, and Saigon.

When I'm not traveling, I'm a little obsessed with various fitness stuff: strength training, bodybuilding, mobility and flexibility. I also enjoy rock climbing, slacklining, karaoke (only at public bars -- private rooms don't count), and cooking.

And of course, I always love meeting new people.
I’m really good at
Overusing parthetheses (sometimes they get nested (sometimes that gets messy)).
The first things people usually notice about me
Girls I've met through OKC: "you're more attractive in person."

When I run into people I know in public, I sometimes say "hi" well before we've reached a comfortable distance for communicating. And then we have to kinda stare at each other and smile awkwardly for another 50 feet.

Fitness, solopreneurship, sex, mathematics, social dynamics. All at once.
On a typical Friday night I am
