I'm a transplant from the great liberal oasis that is Austin, TX, and as such, I'm partial to say "y'all" and the occasional ironic "howdy".
From Austin I moved to Seattle for a Ph.D. program at UW, studying genetics. I loved it. Partially because I love science and partially because geneticists are, hands down, the dopest people on the planet. Believe it.
Eventually, though, I dropped out because I didn't have as much freedom to work on the things I wanted to work on as I thought I would. Now I work on the things I want to work on. Mainly internet programming stuff that somehow makes money.
During one summer in grad school, I interned as a science reporter at the Oregonian through the AAAS. That was pretty neat. If you're into science, you can read some of my articles here: http://connect.oregonlive.com/user/bblakeley/index.html
I'm a slut for fresh linens, seasonal cocktails, and the Oxford comma.
