My life progression: Doogie Howser (math version)->MIT engineer ->Peace Corps volunteer->world traveler->investment banker. It makes for a weird mix: an eco-friendly/anti-materialistic banker who likes to help people, make up math problems for himself, get very scientific about line-drying clothes, and use his vacation to travel to countries with low GDPs.
I get along well with folks who can make me laugh, make me think, are both spontaneous and responsible, are up for exploring, and would be all smiles in the chaos of a Third World bus station.
I like to learn about cultures (and sub-cultures), so I end up finding myself in a lot of unexpected places and striking up conversations with people with whom, on the surface, I don't have much in common. I can learn something talking to almost anyone, and there is almost no one who I won't try to talk to if they look like they are holding interesting stories. I also believe that stories are the fundamental currency of human interaction.
On her profile, my Familiar has a long diatribe against the "grammar nazis" of OKCupid arguing that grammar is not a set of precise rules but is the underlying structure of a language that allows ideas to be communicated. She has a point, but also Fuck That. If you have embraced internet spelling, I guarantee that you will annoy the fuck out of me. If something is worth doing it is worth doing right.
