I am trustworthy, thoughtful, and self-assured.
My Self-Summary
Hmmm... I'm kind of cerebral and philosophical, but well-adjusted
and content with myself. I like conversations about
ice-cores,
bell curves,
ancient bones, the
trajectory of
beard lengths. (Will they
continue to grow? Or will a new facial hair trend usurp their
dominance?)
I like to be outside if possible. When out there, I prefer to be
backpacking, hiking, skiing, mt biking, or fly-fishing. But when
inside, I like museums, art, history, dancing, cooking together,
and eating out at great restaurants. I love to travel, but don't
have the opportunity frequently enough these days.
Also, you should know that I'm currently in a secondary poly
relationship - not married, not living together, but not trivial,
either.
What I’m doing with my life
Yeah... that's not as pressing a question as it once was. I'm
pretty content - good job, good friends, great city. More of a
feeling of having arrived, and less anxiousness about where I'm
going. Learning to love it day by day.
I’m really good at
Seeing both sides of an issue. Thinking about better ways of doing
things. Patiently working my way through a complex problem.
Listening.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my mixed-racial heritage - I'm half Japanese, half
honkey mutt
(English, Irish, German). But I might pass for hispanic or
hawaiian.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
These days mostly the New Yorker. But recent books include 1491
(the Americas before Columbus), Guns Germs and Steel, The God
Delusion, and The Coldest Winter.
Movies: The Fast Runner, Pan's Labyrinth, Silence of the Lambs,
Paris Texas, The Cook His Wife The Thief and Her Lover, Gattaca,
Schindler's List, Spirited Away (actually *everything* by Hayao
Miyazaki). I'll see anything that is well made.
Music: right now, Monsters of Folk. Andrew Bird, Decemberists,
Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, Horse Feathers, House of Badger,
MIA, Shugo Tokumaru, Bon Iver, Assembly of Dust, Deerhoof,
DeVotchka, Galactic, Radiohead, etc.
Food: Healthy home cooking. Eating out - interesting nuevo-ethnic
cuisine - Pambiche, Pok-Pok, Toro Bravo, Korean, Pho, etc.
The six things I could never do without
perspective
gratitude
patience
compassion
introspection
forgiveness
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what's next
what I might have forgotten
how I feel
how I made someone feel
better ways of doing things
what to make for dinner
On a typical Friday night I am
At home watching a movie
Having dinner with friends
Out on the town
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Sometimes I read women's magazines in supermarket lines to see what
they want to know about men. Recently I saw, "What do men think
about when they're making love?". Hmmm... I might have some insight
on that....
You should message me if
...it looks like I have knots in my shoulders...oh, wait, that's
massage! Since when did message become a verb???
