My self-summary
My name is Tim. I'm a left-handed bluegreen-eyed redhead. Based on what I know about recessive traits, I probably shouldn't exist.

I can best be described as a series of contradictions and moral ambiguities. I go out of my way to eat well and exercise, I avoid processed foods and corn syrup, yet I have no qualms about stuffing my body with myriad substances of dubious legality. I'm disgusted by cigarettes but addicted to hookah. I loathe suburbia and car culture, but I have an overly romanticized infatuation with long road trips. My humor is bitingly sarcastic and cynical, but behind it all I'm a genuinely satisfied and optimistic person. I don't like the word feminist, but until we think of a better term I'll proudly identify as one. I love Duck Rillettes & Scotch as much as I love Peanut Butter on a spoon & milk. I live cheaply so I can afford to eat extravagantly. I dress down to formal occasions and wear suits to basement parties. I'm a minimalist who hoards digitally. I'm a music snob with a soft spot for Katy Perry; a bartender who hates shots; a computer nerd masquerading as an artist.
What I’m doing with my life
I grew up in Boston, moved to Washington, DC in 2008, back to Boston in 2010, and to Portland in Fall 2012. I try not to let my roots grow too thick anywhere. I'm a wandering soul. This past summer I circumnavigated the globe (this way-->), incidentally in 80 days. I've driven across the United States 3 times so far and intend to do so again and again until old age finally claims me. I've seen 40 states and 3 continents. I've been driven through Istanbul in a presidential limo and whisked across Bangkok on the back of an illegally hired moped. I've been to beaches on both coasts of the US on the same day. If you get homesick, we probably won't get along.

More simply: I am an architect.
I’m really good at
Imagining. Public speaking. Inventing words. Playing one-sided improv games with unwitting friends and strangers.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a) Anything by Tom Robbins - Still Life with Woodpecker & Half asleep in Frog Pajamas are both fantastical. I'm also mildly obsessed with Middlesex - I'd never fallen in love with a fictional character before I read this book. I don't read as many novels as I'd like to, mostly because I find myself constantly consumed by various political & philosophical articles online.

(b) Hedwig and the Angry Inch (the soundtrack more than the film), The Departed, The Five Obstructions, Back to the Future (1 and 2, but not 3), Eternal Sunshine of the Spoteless Mind (I've met Michel Gondry, and you haven't), The Jerk, Wristcutters, The Hudsucker Proxy, The Big Lebowski, Fargo ...really anything by the Coen Brothers, or pretty much any documentary.

(c) Arrested Development, Arrested Development, Arrested Development, Parks & Recreation, Freaks and Geeks Futurama, Archer, Frisky Dingo, No Reservations. I wish Anthony Bourdain was my dad.

(d) My preferences are pretty fluid, but here's a few perennial favorites: Mike Doughty / Soul Coughing, Ben Folds, Boards of Canada, Xploding Plastix The Bad Plus, Hudson Mohawke, Minus the Bear, The New Pornographers, Radiohead, Shpongle, The Decemberists, The Talking Heads, Eyedea & Abilities, Dizzee Rascal, Outkast, Childish Gambino, and so on. I'm also harboring a closeted infatuation with Kanye West.

(e) Offal. Real Asian. Fake Mexican. Raw things.
The six things I could never do without
(1) Beer. Really, really good beer.

(2) chapstick

(3) a Piano

(4) Iced Coffee

(5) Intimacy

(6) Curiosity
I spend a lot of time thinking about
All those tattoos I'll probably never get.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending far too much money on expensive drinks and spouting off about four times as much brewing knowledge as my friends want to hear.

Or in studio crying over spilt glue.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think crying children are hilarious.
