My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm of the mind that it's probably better to meet for a drink if there's something in our profiles that sparks our interests. So, I'm a writer, reader, vinyl enthusiast, year-round biker (weather-permitting), editor, music hobbyist, who enjoys tasty beers and playful conversation. As of September I've lived in Chicago for 7 years straight—and 8 total (I lived in Chicago, moved to California then moved back to Chicago). But I've lived in a number of other cities before here.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Last year I moved back to Logan Square after living up north for a few years. I'm an online editor for a blog focused on literature, feminism, and social justice, and I recently added a podcast series to my portfolio. I work with writer's all day, and then I also run a poetry press that makes hand-made books (and I make my own books too). When the mood strikes, I like recording music—recently working on a kind of dub-y country-ish sound with blown-out guitar.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Life cracking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!

Writers who have been important to me who I still find interesting: Maurice Blanchot, Samuel Beckett, Franz Kafka, Jean Genet, Barbara Guest, John Ashbery, John Wieners, Frank O'Hara, Emily Dickinson, Osip and Nadezhda Mandelstam, Michael Palmer, Clark Coolidge, Susan Howe. Recently I've gotten into Proust and as a project I'm going to try to read all 7 volumes of In Search of Lost Time. But don't be too impressed yet - I'm only on Swann's Way...

Recently I have been into Pasolini's films, particularly his "historical" films like Medea, Oedipus Rex, and The Gospel According to St. Matthew. Fassbinder. Japanese movies from the 30s, 40s, and early 50s: Yasujiro Ozu and Kenji Mizoguchi. And Sergio Leone's westerns from the 60s. Derek Jarman's The Last of England. Directors I always come back to are Andrei Tarkovsky, Jean Renoir, Robert Bresson. I love noir, but have seen enough that plots now begin to blend together when I talk about them. But I also love watching pretty much anything. Don't let the critics dissuade you - the Robocop remake was great!

A few years ago I got a turntable up and running that a friend gave me, and so have been really into vinyl. The last records I've bought: Mind Over Mirrors, Oneohtrix, Broadcast, White Fence, Tim Hecker, Pan American, Sleep, Labradford, Tara Jane O'Neil, Spacemen3, Grouper, Slint, The Mallard, The Drum, Acid King, Guided By Voices, Mind Over Mirrors, The Stooges, and My Bloody Valentine.

I love a heady IPA, but have been enjoying a host of German beers thanks to the Radler. Tequila and bourbon.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A little of this, little of that.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Keeping shit simple. Bike routes to take.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Drinks and dinner with friends.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like to meet new people. You're curious about what other people get into. You value the imagination. You like banter, some dark humor, and up for a little adventure. You're down for biking and record shopping.

Also, right now I'm only interested in meeting people who live in the city. Nothing against the burbs, but I bike and chances are I'm not going to be biking to the burbs.
