My Self-Summary
I've wanted to try Arimaa for a long time. I'm going to start taking a chess set to the coffee shop and try to get people to play with me.
What I’m doing with my life
I’m really good at
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like action movies that have some kind of plot. I don't watch many films, though. Terminator II is a long-time favorite; I think it's a touching love story. The last time I went to a theater was to see Star Trek, and before that... I think it was Children of Men back in 2006. Lately I've been watching all the 80s cultural landmarks I never saw as a kid.
I'm bored with most of my music. Recent discoveries that are still tolerable include Rocky Votolato and Blitzen Trapper (although the latter's songs are pretty hit or miss.) I often return to the timeless solace of guitar instrumentals, Iron & Wine, Bob Dylan, and The Beatles.
I'm an unrepentant carnivore. My favorite cuisines are Thai, Korean, and Indian. I also love sushi. But I'm usually too lazy too prepare real food if it's just for myself, so I mostly subsist on ramen, frozen pizza, and cheeseburgers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics. I spend way too much time keeping up with all the right-wing moonbat gibberish I'm going to have to smack down at my next family get-together.
Economics. I have some unconventional theories, a few of which I was surprised to find support for when I started studying economics academically. Now I'm just baffled about why, if the stuff's right there in the textbooks, people still don't get it.
Philosophy. Ask me where right and wrong come from if there's no such thing as god.
